  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 14 years of experience working on technology policy issues within government, think tanks, public interest groups, law, or relevant industry associations.
  • 5 years of experience in people management.

Preferred qualifications:
  • Experience in politics, public advocacy or private sector government affairs.
  • Knowledge of government tech policy and governance, cybersecurity, critical infrastructure and navigating the Asia Pacific (APAC) geopolitical environment.
  • Knowledge of the technology sector or challenges impacting emerging technology (e.g., Artificial Intelligence, cybersecurity, competition, data, privacy, etc.).
  • Ability to write and translate complex issues into a language suitable for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to help develop and deliver high level visits, events and programs in support of the policy agenda.

As a member of Google’s Government Affairs and Public Policy team, you'll be part of a diverse global government affairs team, working across regions, product areas, and functions. You’ll combine creativity and intellectual excellence with the organizational skills to manage various campaigns, projects and initiatives. In this role, you’ll advocate for Google to bring external perspectives back into the company to inform our perception and direction. You're passionate about the opportunity to shape the future of how we use and build technology for everyone.

In this role, you will be a core member of the Asia Pacific (APAC) Government Affairs and Public Policy (GAPP) leadership team that develops Google's global strategy to build and maintain reputation with policymakers and influencers, find common ground with stakeholders through events, and demonstrate Google’s value to policymakers in new and creative ways. You will develop, organize, manage, and communicate critical plans, initiatives, and strategy. You will be an outstanding leader, with a proven track record of strong team management, the ability to effectively collaborate, and a bias toward execution.

You will be part of a diverse Global Government Affairs team, working across regions, product areas, and functions. You will advocate for Google to bring external perspectives back into the company to inform our perception and direction. Google takes its responsibilities seriously, including engaging with government and other stakeholders on important public policy challenges. The Government Affairs and Public Policy (GAPP) team leads the company’s engagement with executive branch officials, legislators, regulators and third-parties in the formation of public policy. Working closely with Google leaders, GAPP seeks to identify key policy issues, listen carefully to others’ views and opinions, and distill and share the company’s perspective on those issues with external stakeholders. While we focus on challenges affecting the internet, our issue areas are increasingly broad and encompass many areas where public policy, business, and technology intersect.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and lead on APAC’s strategic policy direction for a full range of policy and geopolitical issues that impact Google as well as critical infrastructure, innovation, emerging technology and the web more broadly.
  • Lead and represent the team on regional geopolitical risk for issues impacting Google operations across APAC markets.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders in the APAC region and the United States headquarters.
  • Engage government agencies, regional institutions, associations, think tanks, experts and others to support policies that will help create/maintain a user-focused online environment and an open internet.
  • Manage a team of talented Public Affairs managers across Google's key markets within the APAC region. Provide support and advice to the Vice President of APAC Government Affairs and Public Policy.
