About the Team:
As a Staff Network Engineer, you will be an integral part of our Infrastructure Engineering team. You will lead network infrastructure management and development, working closely with DevOps, Product Engineering, Network Engineers, and Information Security. Your focus will be on automating and deploying infrastructure, ensuring adherence to best-practice standards and controls to deliver a flexible and consistent experience for our teams. Reporting to the Director of Infrastructure Engineering, you will play a key role in our expanding organization.
Responsibilities:

Follow the vision for Medidata’s hosting network operations

Responsible for operating Medidata's customer-facing data communications systems
-
Responsible for all responsibilities relating to the design, planning, implementation, configuration and operation of local and wide-area network solutions between multiple platforms and protocols (including IP) of our hosting network infrastructure

Ensure the entire network is monitored while overseeing alerts regarding network outages are addressed promptly and meet mandated Service level agreements. Monitor network links for performance within set thresholds

Develop tools to reduce down-time in network operations, improve speed and accuracy of network changes, help with diagnosis and remediation of advanced network problems, and drive innovative solutions to reduce failure tensors

Maintain a high level of functionality and availability of all VPN links, routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers and WAN links

Determine the potential causes of the problem and design test methodologies for validation

Coordinate procurement, implementations, and troubleshooting efforts with vendors
-
Lead all project implementations requiring network resources

Conduct project planning, cost analysis and vendor comparisons

Identify network configuration and/or performance irregularities while developing procedures to respond to these irregularities promptly

Create/Maintain network support documentation while always improving existing processes

Provide training and assist with proposal writing
Qualifications:
-
Experience in designing scalable cloud and data center using Private/public cloud technology and managing enterprise-class routers, switches, firewalls and F5 LTM/GTM
-
In-depth knowledge of network security protocols, including firewalls, VXLAN, L2VPN, L3VPN, IDS/IPS, and DDoS mitigation techniques.

High proficiency with routing protocols (RIP, OSPF, EIGRP, BGP), VPN and several firewall technologies and vendors.

Industry certifications such as CCNP, CCIE, or equivalent are highly desirable.

Expert understanding of external L2 / L3 fabric connectivity and experience in L2 / L3 switching Architecture design

Experience with network virtualization
-
Experience with Helm and Docker.

Expertise in containerized networking, CNI plugins i.e. Calico,Cilium...
-
Expertise in defining network policy, external connectivity to Kubernetes group.
-
Experience with metrics frameworks like Prometheus and Grafana.
-
Excellent knowledge of (DDI) DNS and DHCP, IP address management (IPAM)
-
Hands-on and troubleshooting experience of Spine-Leaf architecture CISCO Nexus- N9K or equivalent
-
Experience with ingress/egress and service mesh (linkerD or istio) implementation and management
-
Work with engineers, QA, project managers throughout the software lifecycle in optimally delivering outstanding, large-scale systems
-
Provide 24 x 7 production support on a rotating basis.
Additional Skills:
-
Knowledge of SD-WAN solution deployment.
-
Experience with L4-L7- load balancing, firewalls, etc. will be an additional advantage.

Expert experience with configuring and deploying enterprise-class networks including the following products: Cisco Nexus/Catalyst Product Lines
-
Experience in conducting Network Assessments including the documentation and presentation of the findings.
Your Education & Experience:
-
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
-
7+ years of total experience with at least 5+ years hands-on experience in network engineering, preferably with container orchestration platforms like Kubernetes.

CCNP certification or equivalent required
-
CCIE certification preferred
-
At least 2+ years of Programming skills in any one of these Python, Ansible, Go preferred

Experience supporting a 24x7 Operational environment, requiring shift support
The salary range for positions that will be physically based in New Jersey will range from $115,000-$153,000 per year
The salary range for positions that will be physically based in Texas will range from $101,000-$135,000 per year
Base pay is one part of the Total Rewards that Medidata provides to compensate and recognize employees for their work.
