Research Scientist in Mechanical Engineering Simulations – Krakow, Poland
For our research center in Krakow/Poland, we are looking for a Researcher with expertise in mechanical engineering simulations. You will join a dynamic, motivated, and creative team with a broad range of experience and competencies. As part of our team, you will combine theory with practice, creating, testing, and validating new technologies to enable the energy transition.
The research area in which you will work includes the mechanical design, analysis, and optimization of the high voltage electrical products and other topics related to mechanical assessment. As a market leader accelerating the evolution of the world’s energy system, we put substantial effort into research and development to constantly increase the quality and reliability of our products. You will be able to contribute to this development and create cutting-edge solutions.
Your Responsibilities
- Conduct FEM mechanical analyses – static, fatigue, dynamic – using dedicated simulation software for Hitachi Energy Business Units.
- Propose, contribute to, and lead research and development projects for numerical simulations of products for energy systems.
- Formulate clear conclusions and practical recommendations for the business. Report your work and findings in project documentation.
- Collaborate globally with teams of researchers and engineers at Hitachi Energy to identify, analyze, and solve real-world challenges in optimizing designs for future-generation products.
- Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of the latest numerical analysis technologies, algorithms, and software packages. Recognize opportunities for their practical application in industrial conditions.
- Actively promote your knowledge within the company and outside.
- Collaborate with local and global external partners, including universities, startups, and vendors.
- Disseminate your results in technical reports, scientific publications, research conferences, and patent applications.
Requirements
- MSc degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Minimum 2 years of simulation engineering experience
- Fundamentals of strength of materials
- Fundamentals of manufacturing technologies
- Good work experience with simulation software (HyperWorks, Abaqus, Ansys)
- Basic knowledge in area of electrical engineering (required to understand specification of products and design requirements)
- Ability to utilize national standards/guidelines (e.g. EN, IEEE, IEC, etc.)
- Ability to use MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams)
- Knowledge in area of welded and bolted connections (technology, strength verification) – will be an additional asset
- Experience in 3D printing simulations will be an asset
- Strong written and oral communication skills to work in a team environment
- Solution oriented approach
- Willingness to develop in new engineering areas.
- Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
In addition, the following skills would be beneficial for the role:
- Knowledge about power network business, green energy, respective requirements, and industry standards.
