We are currently seeking a Senior Environmental Development Engineer with extensive Development / Qualification Test Experience to join our Engineering team within Collins Aerospace Electronic Controls and Motor Systems, Solihull.

Job Description
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an Environmental Development Engineer with extensive Test Experience to join our Engineering team. Current onsite facilities include Vibration, Thermal and Humidity Chambers, HALT/HASS Chambers, Salt Fog Chambers, Semiconductor Power Testers, Dynamometers, EMC Facility and an onsite workshop (including Lathe, Milling Machine, Pillar Drills etc).
The role requires a good fundamental understanding of Environmental Testing in accordance with RTCA DO160, working both individually and as part of a dynamic team.
Key Responsibilities
- As an experienced member of our team, you will be responsible for planning and conducting tests.
- Supporting teams with test and development of products.
- Being a good team player, supporting other engineering disciplines and working to deadlines.
- Assisting with locating equipment for Calibration, Repair, Servicing.
- Conducting Preventative Maintenance on Equipment, Facilities.
- Collaborate with project teams in producing test plans and procedures.
Essential Skills and Experience:
- Minimum of a Degree or equivalent work experience in the Development Engineer field
- Produce documentation, such as:
- Development / Qualification Test Procedures
- Development / Qualification Test Reports
- Ability to plan and conduct Development / Qualification Environmental Testing including arranging onsite and offsite availability and arranging the necessary test equipment in accordance with RTCA DO-160 and MIL-STD 810 standards.
- Partake / Conduct Test Readiness Reviews.
- Experience of planning and/or conducting tests, such as:
- Temperature
- Humidity
- Vibration and Shock
- Microsoft Office Software - Word, Excel.
- Failure Reporting.
- A proactive style, team spirit, high energy level, and positive outlook.
- The ability to work closely with team members from other engineering disciplines.
- Flexible and able to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplined team to tight deadlines.
Desired Skills and Experience:
- Ideally from an aerospace, military, defence, automotive or similar industry.
- Experience of the following Testing:
- Waterproofness
- Explosive Atmosphere
- HALT/HASS
- Fluid Susceptibility
- Sand & Dust
- Salt Fog
- Hydraulic Strength/Fatigue
- Icing
- Experience of Software:
- Pico Technology Software (Picolog, Picoscope)
- Labview
- Generating documentation, such as:
- In-house Test Reports
- Standard Work Instructions
- Demonstrable Time Management skills.
- Assist with Preventative Maintenance.
- Conduct Risk Assessments (For Environmental Testing)
