About the team
The Site Reliability Engineering team is responsible for the delivery, management, and monitoring of Kinaxis products and cloud infrastructure in our production offerings. We are responsible for ensuring service availability and performance to our customers globally, 7x24x365. We develop automation geared towards production operations using modern platform tooling like GitHub Actions CI/CD pipelines, Terraform, ArgoCD and Ansible.
What you will do
- Provide leadership, coaching, guidance, and development to the team of reliability engineers with diverse skill sets and roles
- Engage, influence, and evangelize SRE best practices with development, operations and product groups to align technology with service/solution delivery.
- Drive quality accountability within the organization with well-defined processes, metrics, and goals for process quality. This includes leading effective postmortems and ensuring actions are followed-up.
- Drive capacity planning, performance analysis, instrumentation, and other non-functional systems requirements.
- Must be able to define and report progress on strategic initiatives and project level tasks to all stakeholders including senior executives, clients and use effective communication approaches with each constituency.
- Implement metrics driven processes to ensure service quality targets are met.
- Collect business security requirements and centrally coordinate the development of new or enhanced cloud capabilities based on customer need, firm standards, and compliance requirements.
- Propose improvements to the enterprise cloud management platform’s hub and spoke architecture, strategic approaches, and related security governance based on continual review and evaluation of enterprise cloud consumption trends across internal and external business lines.
- Provide guidance during the development of reference architecture that supports the refactoring of legacy on premises applications to use modern design patterns, such as micro-services, containers and serverless.
- Work with peers to automate and build tailored solutions with repeatable patterns that can be leveraged across business and IT solutions.
- Ensure that cloud solutions follow established security and compliance controls.
- Be a thought leader by staying abreast of current and emerging cloud technologies and industry trends.
- Experience designing and building multi-tenant IaaS and PaaS cloud solutions on either Amazon AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud platforms.
- Experience with cloud-native solution design patterns (microservices, messaging, distributed caching, containers etc.)
- Proven project management experience, setting project vision/scope and overseeing delivery
- Proven track record of successfully adopting new technologies at an enterprise-wide level.
- Experience leading delivery of managed SaaS services to enterprise customers
- Extensive understanding of Agile/SCRUM methodologies.
- Experience with infrastructure as code development along with configuration management and orchestration tools such as Ansible, Chef, or Puppet.
- Brings a passion for all things security and reliability
- Dedicated to building strong feedback loops into product and engineering organizations
- Brings a belief that production excellence is a shared responsibility
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Management of Information Systems, Software Engineering, Security, or equivalent professional experience
- 5+ years of experience building resilient, highly available and scalable cloud native platforms and solutions in a high-tech, global organization
- 3+ years of experience leading teams with an operational on-call support rotation
- Experience with cloud infrastructure, data, and application services.
- Experience leading technical project teams, providing direction and setting and reporting on clear objectives
- Extensive understanding of Agile/SCRUM methodologies
- Highly adaptable and able to pivot based on prioritization and needs of the business; proactively solicits and delivers feedback to ensure alignment.
- Agile and resilient in managing multiple leads and team members under tight timelines.
- An articulate and professionally communicator with the ability to provide clear, concise messaging (verbal and written) to multiple audiences and platforms and present information in a way that engages audiences of all levels
