Zapier’s mission is to make automation work for everyone, make everyone more productive at work, and help teams supercharge their business processes. In our New Products group, we’re creating the innovative new tools that our customers need to make that happen.
We’re looking for a Senior Product Designer with strong technical expertise to work on Functions, a new developer-facing Zapier product. The ideal candidate has experience designing for technical users, writing front-end code, or closely collaborating with developers. As part of the team, you will play a key role in designing and developing intuitive, functional user experiences tailored for technical users. You thrive in a fast-paced, startup-like environments where you lead through ambiguity, driving innovation. You will work closely with product and engineering teams to shape strategy, validate direction, and execute quickly to deliver powerful new tools for Zapier’s most technical users.
We’re a globally distributed team, from New Zealand to the Americas, working together to make Zapier the trusted, go-to partner for business automation.

You have a strong technical background: You’re comfortable designing for developers and technical users. You may have experience writing front-end code or have deep technical knowledge, enabling you to design solutions that resonate with a technical audience.
You stay close to customers: You actively engage with users—especially technical users and developers—to gather insights that directly inform product design and functionality.
You navigate ambiguity: You thrive in uncertain environments, using your technical understanding and design instincts to drive iteration and fast-paced improvements.
You set a vision: You are thinking about and showing the future. When not executing with the team, you are helping the team see where it can go next. You are quick to design and prototype ideas to translate concepts visually for rapid iteration and refinement.
You bridge design and technology: You move effortlessly between conceptual design and practical implementation, ensuring that your designs are both innovative and technically feasible.
You balance instincts and research: You rely on intuition when needed and aren’t afraid to start with a solution. You have a strong sense around when and how to employ research methods.
You advocate for craft: You have delivered high quality visual designs in the products you work on. You work within a design system and also elevate the design system.
You focus on outcomes: You focus your team to achieve customer impact, measured by qualitative and quantitative measures.
You collaborate: You build strong relationships with engineers, product managers, and other designers to drive seamless and consistent progress on your product.
You’re curious and creative: You have a proven track record in B2B SaaS environments and a keen interest in UX, UI, and front-end technologies that help you push the boundaries of what’s possible.
Deliver iterative improvements: You’ll rapidly iterate on designs, incorporating both user feedback and technical constraints, while continuously improving flows, interactions, and visual designs.
Engage with technical customers: You’ll have direct contact with developer users, gathering insights and refining product features based on their needs and technical feedback.
Validate new features: You’ll be a key player in prototyping and testing new feature ideas to help the team narrow in on the best path forward.
Lead your team: You’ll collaborate with product managers and engineering leaders to guide your team and ensure consistent execution.
Collaborate with other designers: You’ll work with other designers and engineers to ensure smooth integration between design and development, focusing on making the entire experience seamless.
Advance design systems: You’ll work within our design system, pushing its bounds where needed to get the intended experience outcomes.
