Job Purpose
Develop and document test programs for verification of existing and new products to required specifications. Define test procedures, build test fixtures, and perform testing to meet engineering program goals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Define, write and execute detailed test procedures
- Test design prototypes and new products to applicable standards
- Build test fixtures from common lab equipment and components capable of performing tests from general specifications
- Define method of test to validate products and estimate costs to execute test plans
- Determine list of required off-the-shelf equipment and test software platforms required to achieve test program goals
- Assist with administration of the test lab; helping with lab organization, equipment and consumables ordering, and providing expertise to other lab users
- Draft and provide description and build details for custom apparatus
- Assemble design prototypes for test purposes and provide feedback
- Build prototype and final test fixtures from components, incorporating feedback from engineers into test plans and designs
- Identify and promote coordination of initiatives within the test engineering group for improved efficiency and Technical knowledge advancement
- Provide mentoring to junior test engineers as needed
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Sciences or Electronics related field
- 4+ years of related test engineering experience
- Familiarity with electrical test equipment and methodologies
- Knowledge of test engineering principles
- Ability to operate electronic test equipment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with automated test equipment, test software scripts (Python, LabView), schematic capture
- (Altium/Protel), CAD (Solidworks)
- Experience with software/firmware testing methods
- Comfortable working with 'mains' electrical supply and large batteries
- Ability to read engineering drawings and schematics
- Thorough understanding of power electronics
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements
