Job Details
- Assist bankers and is accountable for underwriting requests for credit extension for new and existing clients, from early origination discussions to development of credit approval memos and presentations in senior approval forums.
- Ensure highest standards of quality and accuracy of credit memos required to approve transactions or renew existing credit lines. Develop strong credit recommendations: appropriately assess counterparty risk and transaction risks.
- Partner with bankers on structuring new trades ensuring they are within Citi’s risk appetite. Provide guidance on internal credit policies and procedures and lead the end-to-end credit approval process.
- Negotiate credit terms of ISDAs, collateral agreements, loan agreements and other trading documentation facilitating the execution of future business.
- Stay abreast of client needs in partnership with bankers. Maintain a clear and up to date view of counterparties under its own coverage anticipating positive or negative credit developments.
- Support ICM Underwriting organization on strategic initiatives/projects as required. Contributes to internal audits and other initiatives aimed at strengthening the control environment.
- The Underwriter will be responsible for Public Sector entities in Western Europe. Coverage will include Central Governments, Government owned entities such as policy development banks, and multilateral development organizations.
- Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting (preferred) - previous experience working in a financial institution with additional experience in a loan officer or underwriting role.
- Advanced analytical skills including the ability to read and assess company financial statements, cash flow, industry and competitive analysis and projections.
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to complete assignments in a timely manner.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Problem recognition and resolution skills.
- Ability to work autonomously and within a team. Proficient in various spreadsheet and word processing applications (Excel and Word are preferred).
- Internal candidates: preference for SCO or SCO ready.
Education:
- Bachelor’s/University degree, Master’s degree preferred
