General Accounting Team Member
Job Details
In this temporary (12 months) General Accounting Team Member position, you ensure the accuracy, completeness, and timely processing of all General Accounting transactions for the Shared Service Centre (SSC). This role is integral to the future of Finance and offers an opportunity to develop a career within an ambitious European SSC.
Core Responsibilities & Operations
- Handle and scrutinize financial data relevant to the General Accounting (GA) system. Key areas for assigned business units encompass:
- Drafting and posting General Ledger (GL) journals as necessary.
- Monthly US GAAP reporting obligations.
- Development of relevant balance sheet account reconciliations.
- Examination of the Profit & Loss (P&L) statement for veracity and cost centre reporting.
- Reviewing bank reconciliations as suitable.
- Working with and analyzing substantial data volumes.
- Managing the process and generating manual recharges.
- Quarterly and ad hoc Corporate schedules preparation.
Account Ownership & Auditing
- Take full ownership of Balance Sheet (BS) accounts, including all related reconciliations and monitoring.
- Oversee the seamless execution of US GAAP audit mandates for EMEA jurisdictions, ensuring timely completion and fostering exceptional professional rapport with external US GAAP auditors.
- Be accountable for generating local statutory audit files and statutory financial statements for EMEA jurisdictions, including robust bridge reconciliations between US GAAP and Local GAAP, and sustaining an excellent professional association with external statutory auditors.
- Assume accountability for Intercompany balances and resolving all intercompany differences in an appropriate and swift manner.
- Ensure all intercompany transactions are adequately supported by formal agreements.
- Comprehend and support the calculation and execution of tax provisions in line with ASC740 for US GAAP, along with local tax return requirements.
- Confirm Internal Audits are carried out in alignment with the audit scope and all prerequisites are fulfilled promptly.
- Active participation in Sarbanes Oxley compliance requirements across the Shared Service Centre.
Stakeholder Management & Contribution
- Deliver exceptional customer service through establishing a partnership with key business unit finance staff and maintaining high-quality service standards for both the business unit and division.
- Maintain professional working relationships with various departments within the SSC and the outsourced Accenture team, in order to effectively fulfill the demands of the role.
- Involvement in key SSC projects & initiatives, such as Corporate Balance Sheet reviews.
- Contribute actively to the attainment of service level performance targets.
Qualifications
Essential
Hold a professional accountancy qualification and be a member of a recognized or prescribed accountancy body such as ACA, CCA, CPA, ACMA, CIMA or an equivalent accountancy body
- US GAAP experience
- Statutory accounts & audit experience
- Sarbanes Oxley experience
- ERP Systems experience
- Proven track record in a business partnership
- High volume reconciliation experience
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
- Excellent knowledge of GA processes and procedures
- Strong Analytical skills
- Fully competent in Microsoft Excel
- Good attendance and timekeeping record
- Technically competent
