Autodesk is searching for a skilled Platform Development Engineer to join our Platform Services and Emerging Technologies team. In this role, you will play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and optimizing our cloud-based platform, with a focus on serverless computing, virtual machines, and container orchestration services in both AWS and Azure environments. This role is located in Ireland. Hybrid work model.
Responsibilities
Build observability solutions using advanced cloud monitoring tools such as Dynatrace, Splunk or equivalent, to provide comprehensive insights into system metrics, logs, and traces
You have good communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work with teams to lead observability programs and improvements
Configure and customize monitoring dashboards, alerts, and metrics to allow real-time visibility into system health, performance, and reliability, facilitating rapid detection and resolution of issues
Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to define observability best practices, ensuring understanding of industry-leading methodologies
Analyze system performance and behavior through advanced data analytics and visualization techniques, identifying trends, anomalies, and optimization opportunities to enhance system reliability and scalability
Develop and automate observability-related processes and workflows, using scripting and automation tools to improve monitoring, analysis, and response activities
Be on-call for incidents and system outages
Stay up to date with latest trends and innovations in observability and cloud monitoring technologies, evaluating and integrating new tools and methodologies to improve our observability capabilities
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field
2+ years of hands-on software development experience in Python
Proficiency in serverless computing services such as AWS Lambda
Hands-on experience with virtual machine services like AWS EC2 and Azure Virtual Machines
Familiarity with container orchestration services such as AWS ECS, Azure Container Instances (ACI), and Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS)
Understanding of Infrastructure as Code (IaaC) principles and tools like Terraform and CloudFormation
Experience designing and implementing scalable, high-performance platform solutions
Experience implementing unit and integration tests
Preferred Qualifications
AWS certifications
Proficiency in CI/CD pipelines for automated deployment and testing
Experience with monitoring and logging tools such as CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, and ELK Stack
The Ideal Candidate
You have a background in platform development, with working knowledge in serverless computing, virtual machines, and container orchestration services in both AWS
You are well-versed in Infrastructure as Code (IaaC) principles and tools
You thrive in a collaborative environment and are passionate about leveraging cloud services to build scalable and resilient platforms
You stay updated with the latest trends and best practices in cloud computing and platform development
