Live Pages Journalist, Asia
Reuters Live Pages team is seeking a journalist based in Bangalore, India. Live Pages are a direct-to-consumer scrolling feed of text, video, pictures, graphics, and social media providing real-time multimedia coverage of the biggest breaking stories worldwide.
About the role
As Live Pages Journalist, Asia, you will:
- Produce short, tightly written and accurate text posts under intense deadline pressure.
- Edit short news video clips from Reuters Connect and upload into the Live Pages system.
- Select pictures and edit their captions quickly and accurately.
- Work with the Live Pages Asia Editor and the global team to be part of planning discussions that shape the Live Pages file for the coming weeks and months.
- Work on an Asia Live Page team that picks up from the Amers Live Page team when they sign off, and hands over to the EMEA Live Page team later in the day.
- Jump on news across the spectrum - business, politics, general and entertainment - and across all geographies.
- Be flexible about your working pattern, with the role involving both early and late shifts and occasional weekend work.
About you
You're a good fit for the Live Pages Journalist, Asia role if you:
- Have good knowledge of international breaking news as well as strong writing and editing skills.
- Display good news judgement and an ability to ensure adherence to the Reuters Trust Principles of fairness, accuracy and balance in a fast-moving situation.
- Have, or be willing to acquire, multimedia skills as part of the Live Page team’s core mission to create an integrated text and visuals setup for breaking news.
- Can bring ideas, energy and enthusiasm to a versatile team that fuses text, pictures, video and other media.
- Are a congenial team player who is prepared to share your own skillsets and acquire those of others.
- Are willing to work hours that fit with Reuters’ round-the-clock operations, including shifts that start very early in the Asia morning to take over from colleagues in the Americas.
