    Position Overview

    Autodesk is seeking an experienced Software Development Manager to join Autodesk's Platform Services and Emerging Technologies group to lead a team of skilled developers building next-generation CAD interoperability components that power seamless data exchange in products like AutoCAD, Inventor, Revit, ACC (Autodesk Construction Cloud), and cloud data models. This role combines technical leadership, architectural oversight, and cross-functional collaboration to deliver robust software solutions that enable seamless data flow between diverse CAD and BIM platforms.

    You’ll operate within a fast-paced, innovation-driven environment backed by enterprise resources—offering the best of both worlds: startup agility with corporate stability.     Location: Toronto, Canada

    Hybrid work arrangement that requires occasional onsite presence.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Lead and grow a team of developers building next-generation software for CAD and BIM data interoperability

    • Define technical strategies and oversee delivery of scalable, reliable, and high-quality 3D data exchange software components and services

    • Work closely with other engineering managers, product management, and architects to translate complex workflow needs into elegant software solutions

    • Establish and evolve engineering best practices including code reviews, automated testing, CI/CD, and documentation standards

    • Stay current with emerging standards and APIs (IFC, STEP, glTF, and more) to enhance interoperability

    • Manage roadmaps, team capacity, and project execution to ensure timely and predictable delivery

    • Foster a collaborative culture that encourages innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field

    • 7+ years of software development experience, including 2+ years of engineering leadership

    • Strong proficiency in C++, C#, or Python, with experience in 3D geometry, CAD APIs, or graphics frameworks

    • Experience with AEC (Architecture, Engineering and Construction) or manufacturing platforms, BIM and parametric design software like Revit, Navisworks, Civil3D, ArchiCAD or Bentley products

    • Mastery preferred

    • Strong communication, project management, and stakeholder collaboration skills

    • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and modern DevOps toolchains

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Proven experience developing or integrating CAD data formats such as IFC, STEP, USD or similar

    • Experience with cloud-based 3D model collaboration or data exchange systems

    • Knowledge of Autodesk, Bentley, or Trimble API ecosystems

    • Background in AI/ML applications for 3D model analysis, data classification, or geometry recognition

    Salary transparency

    Salary is one part of Autodesk’s competitive compensation package. For Canada-BC based roles, we expect a starting base salary between $136,000 and $187,000. Offers are based on the candidate’s experience and geographic location, and may exceed this range. In addition to base salaries, our compensation package may include annual cash bonuses, commissions for sales roles, stock grants, and a comprehensive benefits package.
