Skills and Competencies
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related disciplines; commerce graduates from top tier institutes encouraged
• 0–2 years of experience in financial statement analysis
• Strong understanding of company filings such as 10 K, annual reports, and quarterly reports; ability to conduct effective secondary research
• Hands on experience in extracting meaningful insights from financial statements
• Solid understanding of accounting and financial documentation
• Exceptional attention to detail, analytical thinking, and problem solving skills
• Organized, dependable, and capable of prioritizing multiple tasks with initiative and independence
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, lookups, etc.) and other MS Office applications
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
Education
• Bachelor’s degree in Commerce (B.Com), Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field from reputable institutes
• Candidates who have cleared CFA Level 1 (or are currently pursuing it) are strongly preferred, as it demonstrates foundational competency in financial analysis, ethics, and investment concepts
• Commerce graduates from top tier colleges/institutes are encouraged to apply
Responsibilities
• Analyse and extract data, insights, and key information from published financial documents
• Review core financial statements, including Income Statements, Balance Sheets, and Cash Flow Statements, across annual, interim, and regulatory filings from multiple geographies
• Apply working knowledge of US GAAP, local GAAP, and/or IFRS (knowledge of multiple frameworks preferred)
• Perform detailed quality checks of own output and others’ work when needed
• Deliver accurate, high quality output within defined timelines
• Work independently while also contributing effectively within a global team environment
About the Team
The Data Estate OU is expanding an initiative aimed at enhancing Moody’s value proposition among a broad spectrum of financial market participants. This initiative focuses on delivering the highest standards of financial data governance, ensuring data accuracy, and enhancing usability across Moody’s products
As part of this effort, the Financial Analyst role centers on analyzing published financial documents from corporate entities worldwide. The role requires strong grounding in accounting, capital markets, and financial statement analysis to extract structured data and meaningful insights. The ideal candidate is detail oriented, growth driven, and collaborative, working closely with Research Analysts/SMEs and Senior Research Analysts across global teams
