The Institutional Equity Division (IED) is a global leader in the origination, distribution and trading of equity, equity-linked and equity-derivative securities. The Firm’s equity Sales & Trading operations provide liquidity, distribute content, and create product solutions to help our clients generate alpha. The DSP (Delta One Structured Products - Swaps) desk operates within Morgan Stanley’s Prime Brokerage unit and provides delta one equity derivative exposure to the firm’s clients. 

The team is looking to hire an analyst / associate level trader for the NY DSP Custom Baskets desk. This team is responsible for custom baskets execution, thematic trading and risk management, and client coverage focused on Hedge Funds. The ideal candidate will have experience trading equity portfolios and an aptitude for finding market opportunities. The successful candidate will be joining a small team of seasoned traders that values both entrepreneurship and willingness to tackle complex problems. Along with gaining exposure to numerous parts of the MS franchise businesses, the candidate will assist in risk managing and trading strategies that span products and asset classes.

•  Team-player attitude

•  Knowledge of Delta-One and Index products (e.g. indices, ETFs, swaps, futures, reverse / conversions, etc.)

•  Understanding of financial concepts (e.g. hedging, leverage, financing, corporate actions)

•  Comfort working on multiple tasks in parallel and managing tactical intra-day deadlines

•  Experience with project management and process automation, with a strong desire to innovate technologies

•  Proficient analytical/math skills

•  Ability to mine data for significant trends and patterns

•  Fluency with Microsoft Office suite and basic Python programming (preferred)

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $115,000 and $200,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
