The Department 

Because Invesco understands data, and the products created from data are the lifeblood of our business, we have created a global BI & Analytics Team within the Technology and Operations. Our mission is to empower leaders across the company with actionable data insights that drive informed decision-making. We deliver rich analytics solutions through our BI platform and custom web tools, enabling senior leaders to access, interpret, and act on critical business  

Your Role 

This position will be responsible for creating and deploying visually appealing and highly interactive Microsoft Power BI based dashboards.  

The incumbent would work with Business Analysts to analyze the data and reporting requirements, understand the business needs, and recommend and deliver the best available metrics and visualizations using Power BI. 

All work is done in partnership with their counterparts in other functions within Business Intelligence to ensure consistency of the data services and deliverables that BIA provides, as well as in partnership with their Business and/or Technology counterparts.  

 

  • Must be comfortable working in an agile development environment 

  • Have an ability to handle multiple requests from varied stakeholders, in a way that maintains clear priority, and ability to adjust when needed 

  • Have an inquisitive and innovative mindset with a demonstrated ability to recognize opportunities to create distinctive value 

  • Be able to work independently when needed, take initiative, and get products completed with great attention to detail and on time.  

 

 

 

You will be responsible for: 

  • The focus of the role is to develop Power BI reports that are user friendly, easy to understand, yet visually impactful 

  • Incorporate native data analysis features of Power BI to translate data into insights and highlight actionable KPIs 

  • Develop UI/UX and design language for various Business/Technology reporting themes 

  • Devise and implement design principles and consistently apply these principles to ensure the look of feel of reports is consistent across various dashboards  

  • Translate business requirements into documented navigation flows and wireframes 

  • Take a simplistic and self-explanatory approach to reporting interface to ensure answers to questions asked by Business Partners are clear and evident 

  • Ability to understand customer needs and convert them into deliverables  

  • Utilize full potential of Power BI by incorporating the latest features and updates  

  • Implement row level security and manage access to reports and workspaces 

  • Work with Business Analysts to review and prioritize requirements and track to completion 

The experience you bring: 

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience working in BI development environment 

  • Three plus years of experience with Microsoft BI Stack  

  • At least five years of Power BI development experience 

  • Comprehensive design experience with knowledge of common design tools  

  • Write complex DAX statements and utilize R to manipulate and analyze data 

  • Familiar with developer data cubes and data models within Power BI 

  • Hands on experience with Microsoft Office products, especially Excel 

  • Familiar with SSRS, SSIS, SSAS and related Microsoft tools such as Power Apps  

  • Experience in writing simple T-SQL queries to get the necessary data 

  • Understanding of the risks and impact to business of inaccurate and stale data  

  • Extract data from multiple data sources by configuring Power BI gateways, and using M scripting to connect and refresh the data 

  • Special projects as assigned
