Are you a detail-oriented payroll professional with a passion for compliance and financial accuracy?
Join our team at Avery Dennison’s Corporate team as a Payroll Tax Specialist. In this critical role, you will be the guardian of our payroll tax integrity, managing complex multi-state requirements and ensuring seamless financial operations for our US production support. You will serve as the primary link between our internal teams and external tax partners, driving excellence in a fast-paced, high-impact environment.
What You’ll Do (Key Responsibilities):
Strategic Compliance Management: Take ownership of US production support and manage the end-to-end banking and escheatment processes.
Third-Party Partnership: Act as the lead liaison with our third-party payroll tax provider, proactively resolving issues and setting up new tax IDs to ensure seamless continuity.
Financial Integrity: Lead the reconciliation of quarterly and annual payroll tax returns, along with year-end W2 processing.
System Optimization: Maintain UI rates and provide essential system updates for General Ledger processing.
Expert Problem Solving: Conduct deep-dive research into miscellaneous tax issues and provide expert support for both internal and external tax audits.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with HR, Finance, and Accounting teams to ensure payroll accounting excellence and operational alignment.
Qualifications
Bachelor's in Accounting, Finance or a related major
5+ years of tax accounting experience (with at least some experience dedicated to payroll tax) within a large, multi-state/multi-FEIN corporation.
Deep knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations.
Strong proficiency with HRIS/Payroll systems; experience with Oracle Fusion and ADP products is highly preferred.
Exceptional attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to work independently while adapting to shifting priorities.
Additional Information
The salary range for this position will be $65-85k / year. The hiring base salary range represents what Avery Dennison reasonably expects to pay for this position as of the date of this posting. Actual salaries will vary within the range, and in some circumstances may be above or below the range, based on various factors including but not limited to a candidate’s relevant skills, experience, education and training, and location, as well as the job scope and complexity, responsibilities, and regular and/or necessary travel required for the position, which may change depending on the candidate pool.
