    Position Overview

We are seeking a Principal Software Development Engineer to contribute at a senior individual contributor level to the development and evolution of large-scale internal automation platforms. This role is expected to deliver high-impact, reliable, and scalable systems that improve productivity across the organization.

As a Principal Engineer, you will operate with a high degree of autonomy, take ownership of complex technical problem spaces, and influence system design, engineering practices, and execution quality across team boundaries.

    Responsibilities:

    • Own and deliver complex, high-impact software initiatives that span multiple components and services, from design through production readiness

    • Collaborate closely with engineering leaders and architects to design, evolve, and refine system architectures that meet long-term scalability, reliability, and maintainability goals

    • Translate ambiguous or high-level requirements into well-defined technical solutions, driving execution while balancing scope, quality, and timelines

    • Act as a strong individual contributor on large-scale, distributed systems, contributing hands-on code while maintaining a system-level perspective

    • Demonstrate ownership of assigned platform capabilities, including:
      Engineering best practices
      Code quality and maintainability
      Operational readiness and reliability
      Deployment and lifecycle considerations

    • Identify opportunities to simplify systems, reduce operational overhead, and improve internal efficiency through automation and thoughtful design

    • Partner effectively with cross-functional stakeholders (engineering, product, operations) to ensure solutions align with business and organizational goals

    • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to other engineers through design reviews, code reviews, and knowledge sharing

    • Play a key role in incident response and post-incident improvement, driving root-cause analysis and long-term corrective actions

    • Contribute to the continuous improvement of engineering standards, development workflows, and quality practices across the team

    Minimum Qualifications

    • 8 to 12 years of experience in software development

    • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or a related field

    • Strong proficiency in Python for building large-scale, maintainable systems

    • Strong understanding of HTTP-based services and API design

    • Experience in AWS services and operating production workloads in cloud environments

    • Exposure to AI/ML systems, particularly NLP-based solutions and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG)

    • Extensive experience delivering production-grade systems

    • Strong expertise in software system design, including decomposition, abstraction, and long-term maintainability

    • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in distributed systems and service-oriented architectures

    • Proven experience delivering solutions in environments with unclear requirements or evolving constraints

    • Hands-on experience building, deploying, and operating services in cloud environments

    • Deep understanding and practical application of software design patterns and engineering best practices, independent of programming language

    • Experience with containerized applications and modern deployment workflows

    • Familiarity with infrastructure as code and automated provisioning

    • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly to diverse audiences

    • Self-directed, highly motivated, and comfortable working autonomously while collaborating closely with senior technical leaders

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience with event-driven architectures and asynchronous processing

    • Experience with Docker, container orchestration, and service discovery

    • Familiarity with Terraform or similar infrastructure-as-code tools

    • Experience designing or operating CI/CD pipelines for reliable and repeatable deployments

    • Experience with search, analytics, or observability platforms (e.g., Elasticsearch/OpenSearch)
