Position SummaryThe Staff Packaging Engineer plays a critical role in the design of sterile packaging for orthopedic implants. You will collaborate closely with implant product development, operations, vendor, and program management to deliver robust, safe and effective packaging solutions that meet industry and regulatory standards and meet the needs of end users in the surgical settings. Leverage usability studies and voice of customer (VoC) feedback to translate insights into robust packaging designs.
What You Will Do:Design packaging for orthopedic implants from concept to launch
Design verification and validation testing
Author test protocols and reports
Build design history files
Produce engineering change notices and drawings
What You Will Need:Bachelor’s degree in engineering is required
4+ years of related experience
Mechanical Engineering or Packaging Engineering degrees strongly preferred
Experience in packaging or labeling in a medical device or similar regulated industry
Familiarity with packaging metal products, sealing machines, and thermoforming
Strong understanding of operations and ability to assess business impact
Ability to translate voice of customer insights into actionable packaging design requirements
Experience with design for manufacturability and cost optimization
Knowledge of sustainable packaging practices and environmental compliance
Familiarity with sterile packaging systems and ISO requirements.
Knowledge of FDA regulations and Design Control principles.
