The Fixed Income Division is comprised of Interest Rate and Currency Products, Credit Products, Commodities and Distribution.

From the largest global institutions to innovative new hedge funds, investors come to Morgan Stanley for sales, trading, and market-making services in almost every type of financial instruments including stocks, bonds, derivatives, foreign exchange, and commodities. Our professionals provide liquidity and content to clients around the world, actively assessing and managing risk, trading securities, and planning and executing transactions in the fast-changing markets. Background on the Team


The FID Business Control Unit (BCU) function supports the Fixed Income Division, performing a number of key controls owned by the Division, representing FID in many Firm Governance forums and supporting the FID management in the execution of the Division’s business strategy.  The India based BCU team plays a key role supporting other FID BCU teams which are co-located with Sales & Trading personnel across the globe and coordinating FID BCU’s engagement in key initiatives.  The activities performed by the team cover time sensitive controls, review of business initiatives and support of Divisional and Firmwide monitoring and governance processes which includes collation and presentation of materials in certain forums. The team covers UK and partly US working hours.

What you’ll do in the role:

The role will require a fast-learning, dynamic, proactive, and self-motivated person to assist the team in:

  • Performing and executing the Non-Financial Risk Assessment (NFRA) for the Fixed Income Division globally.
  • Engage with global peers and Sales & Trading personnel on Operational Risk incidents and record the same appropriately in TIRED and RECAP systems.
  • Execute 1st Line of Defence Trading controls, such as trader mandate exception monitoring / benchmark usage 
  • Partner with global peers, COOs and Firm resilience functions to develop and maintain divisional and desk level Business Continuity Plans and support associated testing of those plans.
  • Collate and update internal working groups and assorted risk committee presentation decks
  • Support new product pre-trade review assessment processes
  • With global partners, proactively identify, develop and implement solutions to renovate or institute new processes and controls
  • Following specified procedures for different applications throughout the day and ensuring delivery within established SLAs.
  • Assisting with follows ups and closure of triggers with respect to the FID Ops Risk system.
  • Work with senior management within the team on raising access and entitlement requirements.
  • Maintain procedures in support of all of the above.

What you’ll bring to the role:

  • Graduate/Postgraduate with a First Class or above throughout.
  • 2-4 years with a background in Risk Management, Project Management or other Financial Services role.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and related applications with a specific focus on Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Strong MS-Excel knowledge such as the ability to run Advanced Excel functions, Lookups, etc
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; particularly for the international environment.
  • Ability to automate using VBA Macros, Power BI, etc is a plus.
  • Ability to cope with pressure and multi-task in a demanding work environment.
  • Professional/Mature attitude with a willingness to support and help team members.
  • Has a high attention to detail, is highly organized and willing to learn.
  • Ability to work collaboratively on group projects aa well as independently on individual assignments.

Skills desired

  • Enthusiasm to volunteer for planning, organizing and participating in events held by the department and firm.
