Skills and Competencies- Looking for 1+ years of strong quantitative aptitude with deep knowledge of financial modelling, econometrics, statistics, and mathematical techniques.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to simplify and convey complex quantitative concepts, Flexible, collaborative, and eager to learn new technologies and methodologies.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as C#, Python, VBA, MATLAB and strong command of MS Office tools.
- Understanding of model development including design, calibration, implementation, and validation principles. , familiarity with financial modeling: credit risk, credit derivatives, structured finance.
- Strong understanding of Generative AI principles and tools, high attention to detail with strong organizational and analytical skills; ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Master’s or PhD degree in Finance, Financial Engineering, Mathematical Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Collaborate with multiple business lines and stakeholders to support methodology development across Structured Finance and Fundamental asset classes.
- Design, develop, calibrate, and maintain credit rating models and scorecards used in Moody’s ratings process.
- Prepare comprehensive documentation throughout model development and calibration, ensuring transparency, replicability, and adherence to verification/validation standards.
- Research econometric, statistical, and mathematical approaches to calibrate and evaluate model performance.
- Author or co author white papers that highlight modelling rigor and provide transparency to external stakeholders.
- Participate in training activities for analytical staff & build effective working relationships with analytical colleagues and management across the organisation.
- Collaborate across global time zones as needed to support project delivery and stakeholder coordination.
Our Model Calibration & Analytics team within CSS is responsible for developing, calibrating, and maintaining all credit rating models and scorecards that underpin Moody’s Ratings’ analytical methodologies.
