The Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Engineer is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining programs that ensure a safe, healthy, and environmentally responsible workplace. This role supports compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, promotes continuous improvement in EHS performance, and fosters a culture of safety throughout the organization.
What You’ll Do
- Lead site Environmental, Health & Safety strategy and serve as the primary EHS subject-matter expert
- Partner with site leadership to prioritize initiatives and drive a strong culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement
- Develop, implement, and maintain EHS programs to ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, NFPA, and other regulatory requirements
- Lead audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations; analyze trends and implement corrective actions
- Evaluate EHS impact of new processes, equipment, and facility changes to ensure appropriate controls are in place
- Drive environmental sustainability initiatives, including waste management and environmental monitoring programs
- Collaborate cross-functionally to embed EHS into daily operations and long-term planning
- Manage EHS budgets and identify opportunities for efficiency and cost improvement
- Monitor performance metrics, communicate results, and influence stakeholders to deliver measurable EHS outcomes
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, or related field or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Minimum of 6 years in a manufacturing environment or equivalent
Preferred Skills:
- Ability to interpret EHS regulatory requirements and lead programs to meet requirements and bring performance to the next level.
- Experience in dealing with EHS regulators e.g. OSHA., EPA, etc.
- Experience in leading cross functional project teams.
- Strong stakeholder management skills and ability to influence at all levels.
- Extensive experience in implementing and maintaining EHS management systems.
- Certification such as CSP, CIH, or CHMM
