The Assistant Vice President /Director position is with US Banks 1st Line Business Risk. The team has responsibility for the implementation of the Bank’s Regulatory and Compliance programs in the Business Unit as the First Line of Defense. The role will be based out of Mumbai, India, and will be assisting various Regulatory Risk and Compliance programs for US Banks products and services.

Working in the team gives a fantastic opportunity to gain understanding of U.S. Banks regulatory environment. The individual will engage with different business groups, initiatives and work closely with Legal and Compliance personnel and other relevant stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a key point of contact and provide support on Regulation W matters within the U.S. Banks 1st line of defense Business Risk Transactions with Affiliates team, which helps oversee compliance with Sections 23A and 23B of the Federal Reserve Act.

  • Work closely with business units to review affiliate transactions and assist in confirming that appropriate controls are in place to meet regulatory requirements.

  • Support the review of proposed affiliate transactions with U.S. Banks Legal and Reg W compliance teams as needed; help ensure adherence to statutory limits, collateral usage, and market terms requirements in line with the Banks’ policies and procedures.

  • Assist with ongoing monitoring and sampling of affiliate transactions to help confirm compliance with Regulation W 23B Market Terms.

  • Collaborate with technology and data teams to maintain transparency and accuracy in tracking and reporting inter-affiliate transactions.

  • Partner with Business Units on new business initiatives to highlight potential Reg W requirements and related controls.

  • Support 23B Market Terms Framework compliance; assist with reviewing documentation, evaluating controls, and ensuring proper record retention.

  • Develop and update Reg W procedures as needed.

  • Coordinate activities related to Reg W Internal Audit and Second Line of Defense audit and testing.

  • Assist in compiling data and preparing internal reporting related to Reg W affiliate transactions, including management reporting.

Qualifications & Skills Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.

  • 6+ years of experience in financial services, ideally with exposure to risk management or regulatory compliance.

  •  Familiarity with Regulation W (Sections 23A and 23B of the Federal Reserve Act) and its application within banking organizations is helpful.

  • Experience collaborating with business units, Legal, Compliance, and Operational Risk teams on transaction assessments is a plus.

  • General understanding of institutional banking products, balance sheet structures, and transaction booking models preferred.

  • Strong analytical skills and ability to identify connections across data and processes.

  • Prior experience in regulatory compliance activities or internal audit is beneficial but not required.

  • Ability to work effectively in a dynamic environment, both independently and as part of a team, while managing multiple priorities.

  • Attention to detail and solid problem-solving abilities.

  • Good interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills; comfortable interacting with colleagues and presenting to internal audiences.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft tools; familiarity with data analytics or reporting tools and basic SQL knowledge is a plus.
