Job Summary

This role is a customer-focused individual contributor responsible for managing complex diagnostics, repairs, overhauls, and rebuilds on Cummins engine and power generation products with minimal supervision. The position plays a critical role in CPCB IV+ compliance management , advanced diagnostics, dealer capability development, and resolution of critical customer issues with minimal downtime. The role also provides technical leadership, coaching, and mentorship to team members and dealers while supporting Construction, Compressor, Mining, and allied OEM segments.

Key Responsibilities CPCB IV+ Compliance & Advanced Technical Support

  • Manage CPCB IV+ compliance and AO Electrical & Electronic (E&E) activities, including alternators, control panels, and PCC troubleshooting.
  • Perform ECM and PCC calibration, parameterization, and software downloads using INSITE and INPOWER tools.
  • Manage CPCB IV+ cases end-to-end, including timely TSR creation, regular product updates, proper HO escalations, and telematics monitoring.
  • Ensure 24x7 resolution of critical customer issues, minimizing equipment downtime and ensuring compliance adherence.

Case Management, Tools & Resource Planning

  • Plan and control parts inventory required for CPCB IV+ and critical field issues.
  • Track availability and readiness of AO tools and dealer E-tools to support timely issue resolution.
  • Plan and manage Diagnostic Response Team (DRT) visits as required to resolve complex technical issues.

OEM, Dealer & Stakeholder Management

  • Manage Construction Equipment, Compressor OEMs, and Mining customers, ensuring structured engagement and issue resolution.
  • Conduct regular MOMs, maintain strong case tracking discipline, and ensure timely closure of open cases.
  • Demonstrate strong dealership management by setting clear expectations, resolving conflicts effectively, and aligning dealer actions with service and business objectives.

Field Service & Technical Leadership

  • Perform complex diagnostics, repairs, overhauls, and rebuilds at customer or company sites using documented Cummins and OEM procedures and specialized tools.
  • Escalate unresolved technical issues to product specialists or supervisors while ensuring complete documentation and knowledge transfer.
  • Coach, guide, and mentor technicians and apprentices to close performance gaps and improve technical and execution capabilities.
  • Build and maintain high team capability and accountability aligned with expectations of a senior AO role and defined deliverables.

Documentation, Safety & Continuous Improvement

  • Complete and verify service documentation including service worksheets, timesheets, warranty claims, and quality documents using Cummins business systems.
  • Identify additional sales and service opportunities during customer interactions and share insights with relevant stakeholders.
  • Maintain service vehicles and tools to ensure cleanliness, safety, and operational readiness.
  • Ensure adherence to all Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies, procedures, and legislation; proactively report incidents and risks.
  • Complete required technical and safety training in line with skill and business requirements.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Qualifications

  • Apprentice Trained Engine Technician (preferred).
  • Vocational diploma from a relevant technical institution.
  • Locally valid driving permit.
  • This position may require licensing for compliance with export control or sanctions regulations.

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience

  • Significant field service experience in engine and power system diagnostics, repair, and compliance management.
  • Expert-level experience with Cummins engine products, CPCB IV+ systems, and electronic diagnostic tools.
  • Proven customer service experience in critical service environments.
  • Experience providing technical guidance, mentoring, and coaching to junior technicians (preferred).
