DESCRIPTION
We are looking for a talented Quality Systems Specialist – Senior to join our team specializing in quality for our Cummins’ business in Columbus, IN.
In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
Ensure full compliance with ISO 9001, IATF 16949, VDA, and customer-specific requirements by maintaining an effective, audit‑ready Quality Management System.
Serve as the organization’s subject‑matter expert on quality standards, tools, and methodologies (FMEA, MSA, SPC, APQP, PPAP), coaching teams to elevate quality performance.
Strengthen process ownership across functions by promoting clear process interactions, robust control plans, and structured process management frameworks.
Maintain and continuously improve documented procedures to align with evolving quality system requirements and industry expectations.
Lead the internal audit program to identify risks, drive corrective actions, and embed a culture of ongoing improvement.
Support or conduct internal/manufacturing process audits and ensure timely, high‑quality responses to findings.
Act as the key liaison for 2nd‑ and 3rd‑party audits, overseeing certification activities and ensuring accurate, timely communication with registrars.
Oversee and deliver Quality Systems training while driving adoption of standard quality applications in collaboration with Business Unit and Corporate Quality teams.
RESPONSIBILITIES
To be successful in this role you will need the following:
Customer‑centric leadership & communication: Build strong customer relationships and tailor communications to diverse audiences; relate comfortably across functions and cultures, recognize the value of different perspectives, and create an engaged climate where people do their best work.
Quality systems & process mastery: Apply and coach core quality methods (APQP, FMEA, PPAP, SPC, capability studies, audits, inspection/test) to ensure a compliant, effective QMS that consistently meets requirements; promote process ownership, standard work, and rigorous documentation.
Data‑driven problem solving & continuous improvement: Use systematic root‑cause analysis to determine assignable causes and implement robust, preventive actions; practice COS/TQM principles to reduce waste, improve quality, uphold accountability, and manage project schedules to plan.
Digital and global quality enablement: Leverage Quality 4.0 (cloud apps, digital twins, simulation, connected systems, adaptive intelligence) and clear data visualization to inform decisions and drive outcomes; maintain a global perspective to align practices with customer and regional requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Experience:
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree or equivalent business experience
- Yellow Belt
- Internal Auditor Certification
- Working towards 7 Step Problem Solving certification
- Working towards QUA 3900 certification
- This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.
- Intermediate level of experience required.
Additional Details:
- Maintain full control of the site’s calibration system and equipment status.
- Review calibration results, manage out‑of‑tolerance evaluations, and assess product risk.
- Lead MSA activities and ensure measurement capability.
- Manage MRC workflow, documentation, approvals, and implementation.
- Coordinate change reviews with multidisciplinary team
- Ensure compliance with customer and IATF/APQP requirements for any change.
- Ensure compliance with IATF/ISO standards and support audit readiness.
- Oversee and develop the team, driving efficiency and continuous improvement.
- Execute any other technical or professional tasks assigned by the supervisor
- IATF Lead Auditor Certification.

Compensation
Please note that the salary range provided is a good faith estimate on the applicable range. The final salary offer will be determined after considering relevant factors, including a candidate’s qualifications and experience, where appropriate.
