DESCRIPTION

Job Summary:

Coordinates projects, analyzes data and supports implementation of health, safety and environmental programs in collaboration with cross functional teams. Communicates with key business stakeholders to ensure successful project completion.

Key Responsibilities:

Builds relationships across functions. Demonstrates a commitment to driving a positive health, safety and environmental culture. Consults with employees and collects feedback to contribute to the development and implementation of programs, policies and procedures that will have a direct impact on an employee work environment. Supports hazard identification, environmental aspect identification and risk assessment programs, collecting and analyzing data to identify potential projects, prioritizing using a risk-based data-driven approach. Works with project stakeholders to establish project goals, project plans, timelines and milestones. Tracks performance against project goals and timelines. Develops and maintains project related metrics, communicating project status to respective stakeholders. Monitors all project related costs, project risk and project resources, working with team to resolve issues. Leads projects from identification through implementation utilizing Cummins approved methodologies. Ensures continuous improvement throughout the site using the plan, do, check, act methodology. Develops project related support materials for training, skills development and internal communications. Maintains policies, procedures, tools and resources for assigned projects ensuring they are up to date, controlled and available while adhering to data privacy regulations. Works with cross-functional teams to define and implement innovative solutions to eliminate or reduce risk to as low as practical. Supports site(s) Health, Safety, Environmental Management Systems through participation in site audits. Utilizes health, safety and environmental data from legal compliance findings, and internal and external audit results to identify continuous improvement projects Coaches others on health, safety and environmental processes based on stakeholder feedback or observations. Actively seeks opportunities for self-development through professional health, safety and environmental organizations, as a champion of emerging trends.

Health, Safety and Environment Incident Investigation and Root Cause Analysis - Examines HSE incidents by completing quality, evidence based investigations with accurate root cause analysis, resulting in effective corrective actions, accurate reporting and avoiding repeated incidents.

Health, Safety and Environment Management Systems - Interprets and applies international standards through practical application within the operating environment to achieve and maintain an effective management system and external certification.

Influence the Health, Safety and Environmental Culture - Champions positive health and safety behaviors by influencing leaders and employees to create the right environment.

Measurement and Evaluation of Health, Safety and Environment Performance - Collects and analyzes data by creating key performance indicators to evaluate performance trends, deliver improvement goals and objectives, inform strategy and protect employees and the environment.

Risk Assessment - Evaluates hazards within the work environment by applying hazard identification and risk assessment techniques to analyze and prioritize risk, enabling a selection of control measures that reduce risk as low as reasonably practicable.

Project Management - Establishes and maintains the balance of scope, schedule and resources for a temporary effort (a “project”). Ensures results/impact from temporary effort are fully realized as possible.

Education, Licenses, Certifications:

Demonstrated role competence is required. College, university, or equivalent Bachelor's degree in relevant health, safety or environmental discipline is preferred.

Experience:

Minimal relevant experience required, including project management. Experience with Industrial Safety Standards preferred. 1-2 years of experience.

QUALIFICATIONS

This position will concentrate on environmental duties including but not limited to the following items:

  • SWPPP - understand plan, requirements and conduct inspections and sampling
  • SPCC - understand plan, requirements and conduct inspections
  • Pretreatment Wastewater Discharge Permit - understand permit, requirements and conduct sampling
  • Knowledge of Excel spreadsheets
  • Great people skills
  • Very organized and can work independently
  • Understand new topics quickly and able to perform individually
  • Manage environmental contractors
  • Able to speak to large audiences and can perform training
