Staff R&D Engineer, Extrusion

As a Staff Engineer at Stryker Neurovascular, you’ll provide technical leadership and drive innovation in the development of life-saving technologies that address critical neurovascular needs. In this pivotal role, you’ll lead validation activities for new extrusion process introductions, shaping the future of catheter design and manufacturing.

What you will do:

• Work with a multidisciplinary team to support new product and process introductions with a focus on Extrusion
• Write and execute process validation protocols and reports for new product introductions and re-validations due to process /material improvements utilizing scientific / technical knowledge.
• Provide Technical leadership from an engineering perspective.
• Select tooling, components, and equipment
• Develop extrusion specific testing and inspection protocols
• Complete capital acquisition activity from specifying equipment right through to validation
• Participate in PFMEA, Control Plan, SOP and PPAP generation

What you need:

• Polymer or Mechanical Engineering bachelor's degree or relevant technical degree required
• 5+ years medical device design/manufacturing and/or extrusion/molding experience
• Demonstrable strong analytical & problem solving skills, a process improvement orientation, and the ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
• Strong understanding of plastic materials and extrusion processing
• Experience of Design for Manufacturing, capability studies, verification and validation
• Capable of working as part of a multi-disciplined team in an aggressive, dynamic and results motivated environment
• Capable of providing technical leadership and influencing and providing technical direction to Engineers, Technicians and Operators as required
• A team player, with a flexible approach
• Technological expert, willing to source, investigate and implement technological and automation advances
• Confident and effective decision maker, with a proven technical leadership ability to negotiate and influence others
