What you'll do in the role:
- Staff, develop and lead one or more teams which are part of the department.
- Design, build, and maintain scalable and resilient data platform solutions using Big data platforms on HDFS/S3 using Apache Spark, Python, Kubernetes, and other container orchestration tools.
- Collaborate with application teams to design and deploy microservices-based architectures, focusing on scalability, performance, and reliability.
- Work closely with development teams to optimize application performance and troubleshoot production issues.
- Communicate regularly with product leads across the technology organization and discuss opportunities for improvement to existing and future technology solutions. {D Part 2: Scope of Role What you'll bring pre-set content based on tier framework + role-specific bullets}
What you'll bring to the role:
- Ability to effectively manage multiple functions or guide junior staff and initiatives.
- Advanced understanding and experience in building data pipelines, data engineering and database technologies like IBM DB2, Postgres, Snowflake
- Experience in working with large datasets using a combination of technology (Big data platforms like Hadoop), storage using HDFS/S3, access using Apache Spark and open standards for lineage and identification of data
- Experience in effectively executing IT strategy, delivery and complex initiatives.
- Ability to present information in a clear and concise manner to technology and business leadership.
- Advanced understanding of business line and discipline with some knowledge of competitive environment and other disciplines.
- Advanced understanding of functional areas and competent understanding of competitive environments.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience with reporting tools such as PowerBI, and Tableau.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and scripting languages like Python, Perl
- At least 12 years' relevant experience would generally be expected to find the skills required for this role.
