Overview
The Business Solutions Group (BSG) sits within Morgan Stanley’s Institutional Securities Group (ISG) and drives cross-business transformation initiatives focused on operational efficiency, data enablement, automation, and advanced analytics.
The team partners with business lines, technology, operations, and control functions to modernize processes, improve decision-making through data, and deploy scalable solutions that support the firm’s evolving strategic and regulatory priorities.
This role will focus on developing analytical capabilities, supporting data-driven transformation initiatives, and enabling automation and advanced analytics across lending, risk, and operational workflows.
The ideal candidate combines strong quantitative and data engineering skills with an understanding of financial services processes and is comfortable working in cross-functional environments spanning business, technology, and risk stakeholders.
Primary Responsibilities
As a key member of the BSG team, this individual will work in cross-functional agile teams alongside various business stakeholders (e.g. business, technology, operations, risk and finance) to innovate and consult on developing new or enhancing existing technologies. This role offers the opportunity to collaborate with colleagues and industry experts to design and deliver high performance data frameworks and technical platforms that power advanced analytics engagements and solutions.
Key responsibilities will include but will not be limited to the following:
Support high quality, multi-workstream engagements within ISG including front office, risk, finance, operations and technology
Design analytical frameworks to evaluate automation opportunities, operational efficiency improvements, and process performance
Support the development of advanced analytics solutions including predictive models, workflow automation, and AI-enabled decision tools
Partner with business, technology, and operations teams to translate business requirements into data and analytical solutions
Conduct quantitative analysis on large financial and operational datasets to identify insights and efficiency opportunities
Support the design and implementation of data architectures that enable advanced analytics and automation capabilities
Contribute to the development of internal data products and dashboards that enhance transparency and decision-making
Assist with implementation planning and monitoring of transformation initiatives, ensuring analytical insights translate into measurable improvements
Document analytical methodologies, data sources, and transformation initiatives to ensure transparency and reproducibility
Skills Required:
Proven ability to manage delivery/execution of a wide range of tasks and initiatives
Experience working with large datasets and building analytical models
Ability to translate complex business problems into structured analytical approaches
Strong programming skills for data analysis and transformation
Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams including business, technology, and operations
Strong communication skills with the ability to explain analytical insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Eagerness to learn business and understand detailed technical requirements
Technical Skills:
Python, R, or similar languages
Experience working with large datasets and data manipulation libraries (e.g., Pandas, NumPy)
Familiarity with data engineering concepts, including building ETL pipelines and working with APIs
Familiarity with SQL and relational databases
Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Python visualization libraries)
Exposure to machine learning techniques and statistical modeling is a plus
Experience working with structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data is a plus
Exposure to cloud platforms and modern data architectures is a plus
Qualifications
A minimum of 2-5 years of relevant experience
Degree in data science, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Economics, or Finance
Experience working with financial datasets or financial services institutions preferred
Understanding capital markets, lending, risk management, or financial operations is a plus
Experience supporting data-driven transformation or operational improvement initiatives is beneficial

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $100,000 and $150,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs
