Job Summary
The Mechanical Maintenance – Level II role is responsible for performing maintenance and machine support activities to ensure manufacturing equipment remains reliable, available, and efficient. The position involves working with mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and basic electrical systems, applying maintenance practices with limited supervision, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives. The role may also involve coaching less experienced team members and contributing to operational excellence on the shop floor.
Key Responsibilities
Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE)
- Adhere to all HSE policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
- Identify, report, and address unsafe conditions, hazards, and incidents
- Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times
- Promote a culture of safety and interdependence within the team
- Participate in HSE training and environmental sustainability initiatives
Maintenance & Equipment Support
- Perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of manufacturing equipment
- Execute preventive, predictive, corrective, and emergency maintenance activities
- Support equipment uptime and downtime analysis to improve reliability
- Schedule maintenance activities in alignment with production requirements
- Maintain clean, organized work areas and follow housekeeping standards
CNC / Mechanical Systems Support
- Perform maintenance on CNC machines, particularly Horizontal Machining Centers (HMCs)
- Troubleshoot and maintain mechanical systems including:
- Ball screws, spindles, bearings, guideways, fixtures, APCs
- Pumps, motors, lubrication and coolant systems
- Support machine operations including homing, backlash adjustments, and MDI functions
- Work with associated systems such as:
- Gantry systems, honing machines, washing systems, leak testing equipment
- Gauging systems, vision systems, CMES and traceability systems
- Material handling equipment and overhead cranes
Quality & Process Compliance
- Perform work as per diagrams, manuals, and technical specifications
- Follow all quality standards, process documentation, and inspection procedures
- Identify and escalate issues to minimize quality and cost risks
- Support preventive maintenance systems with feedback and improvements
Documentation & Continuous Improvement
- Record maintenance activities, repairs, and spare parts usage accurately
- Coordinate with Continuous Improvement (CIP) teams for spare part planning and localization
- Develop SOPs and one-point lessons for maintenance processes
- Participate in Kaizen, cost-saving, and energy-saving initiatives
- Prepare and share maintenance reports and MIS data
Teamwork & Development
- Communicate effectively with production and cross-functional teams
- Train and support less experienced maintenance personnel
- Participate actively in Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) initiatives
- Complete required training and contribute to personal development

Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Diploma or certification in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Industrial Maintenance, or related field preferred
- Relevant technical certifications (e.g., OSHA, CNC maintenance) are an advantage
- May require licensing for export control or regulatory compliance
QUALIFICATIONS
Skills
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and basic electrical systems
- Hands-on experience with CNC machines, especially HMCs
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair complex manufacturing equipment
- Proficiency in reading technical drawings, schematics, and manuals
- Familiarity with industrial equipment such as pumps, motors, cranes, and automation systems
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and attention-to-detail skills
- Good communication, teamwork, and time-management skills
- Basic knowledge of MS Excel and reporting tools
Experience
- 6–8 years of hands-on experience in mechanical maintenance within a manufacturing environment
- Experience working with CNC machines, preferably HMCs
- Experience in cylinder block and cylinder head manufacturing preferred
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of maintenance systems and processes
Internal Considerations
- Experience with CNC systems such as Siemens Sinumerik (828 / Sinumerik One) preferred
- Knowledge of equipment such as ATLAS COPCO / DESOUTERS tools, gantry systems, honing machines, and gauging systems
- Familiarity with CMES, traceability systems, and centralized coolant systems
- Ability to work in shifts and support production demands
- Strong focus on safety, continuous improvement, and proactive problem-solving
