We are looking for a talented Health Safety and Environmental Tech IV to join our team specializing in Health and Safety for our Cummins Inc. facility in Maxton, NC .
Job Summary:
Provides technical support on health, safety and environmental to production and site personnel under the guidance of the site HSE leader. Assists in the analysis, review and sustainability of Health, Safety and Environmental Management Systems.
In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
• Strengthen HSE culture by identifying gaps in corporate and local requirements and ensuring safety principles are consistently embedded into daily operations.
• Enhance incident prevention by actively supporting hazard identification, risk assessments, and stop work authority to eliminate major injury hazards before they escalate.
• Improve reporting accuracy and compliance by guiding the site through proper processes for incident, illness, hazard, and environmental reporting.
• Drive continuous improvement by supporting investigations, analyzing HSE trends, and ensuring timely closure of corrective and preventive actions.
• Advance environmental stewardship through active support of environmental management programs and sustainability-related initiatives.
• Promote emergency readiness by helping maintain emergency response procedures and ensuring site personnel understand their roles.
• Reinforce quality and operational excellence by performing quality checks, controlling non conforming materials, and raising issues that protect cost, quality, and safety.
• Build team capability and engagement by communicating effectively, supporting training and development, and participating in programs that encourage an interdependent safety culture.

• Conduct high quality incident investigations using evidence based methods to determine true root causes, apply meaningful corrective actions, and prevent recurrence.
• Apply HSE management systems effectively by interpreting standards (like ISO 45001/14001) and integrating them into daily operations to maintain compliance and certification readiness.
• Perform strong risk assessments by accurately identifying hazards, analyzing severity and likelihood, and selecting controls that reduce risk to ALARP (as low as reasonably practicable).
• Value and leverage diverse perspectives by encouraging input from different backgrounds, roles, and experiences to strengthen problem solving, communication, and safety decisions.
• Support environmental stewardship by contributing to environmental compliance, waste reduction, sustainability practices, and continuous improvement in environmental performance.
Education, Licenses, Certifications:
• High school diploma or certificate of completion of secondary education or equivalent experience to the extent such experience meets applicable regulations.
• A two year University degree in Industrial Safety, Environmental Management, Sustainability or related field preferred.
Experience:
• Requires significant relevant work experience or specialized skills obtained through education, training or on-the-job experience in health, safety and environment. 3-5 Years of Experience highly preferred.
QUALIFICATIONS
• This position will need strong technical skills.
• Capabilities of working in multiple software applications.
• A successful candidate will also have responsibility for certain HSE initiatives and be a leader of in-house programs.
• Skilled communication is essential, written, verbal, etc.
• Additional responsibilities as requested.
