Position Description
The Fixed Income Division (“FID”) Commodities Group is looking for a Vice President level candidate in Singapore as Business Control officer, focused on Commodities. The role is responsible for driving execution of business priorities and initiatives supporting Commodities COO leadership, managing non-financial risks, and ensuring strong coordination with control and infrastructure partners. This position acts as a key connector between the business and other functions including Legal & Compliance, Finance, Risk, Operations, Technology, and HR, with a focus on delivering efficient, scalable, and well-controlled outcomes.
Key responsibilities:
Perform first line non-financial risk management for Asia Commodities business encompassing Operational Risk, Conduct Risk, Regulatory Risk, Technology Risk, Client Risk, etc.
Coordinating new business projects and initiatives, pre-trade approval governance, reviewing operational risk incidents, assessing client governance issues, business continuity, and coordinating regulatory projects that impact the division
Perform conduct risk and ad-hoc transaction reviews
Partner with Business and COO leadership to support execution of business strategy
Work with business and infrastructure functions to support delivery of key business initiatives
Daily or regular tasks related to business control function include but are not limited to:
Represent FID Commodities in regional and global risk and control initiatives
Create and maintain business related policies and procedure, and ensure a standardized and consistent approach for the Division to adhere to them
Helping to assess and coordinate new business initiatives for the division
Assessing ad-hoc transaction approvals for complex trades
Managing operational risk incidents, general operational queries/issues, and specific programs such as the Non-Financial Risk Assessment
Helping to manage regulatory changes that impact the division
Supporting regulatory enquiries / inspections, internal audits and compliance testing that impact the division
Key skills and experience requirements:
Technical Fixed Income product knowledge, particularly Commodities products
Be able to work in a fast-paced environment and make sound judgment calls
Be able to find balance between commerciality and prudent risk management
Ability to interact with stakeholders of varying seniority in different groups
Strong project management skills
Highly self-motivated, with a desire to help improve processes and work together in a team
