What you will do

The Communications Manager will lead and shape communications for the AI Accelerator (AIA) within the Ortho Tech Division, establishing a clear narrative, communication strategy and engagement approach from the ground up. This role will partner closely with AIA leadership to define and execute communications for AIA employees and business partners, ensuring clarity on AIA’s purpose, capabilities and operating model.

This is a highly visible and high-impact role responsible for building and scaling AIA communications, including internal channels, leadership messaging and launch communications. The Communications Manager will create structure in a fast-evolving environment, developing communication strategies that drive awareness, alignment, and engagement across stakeholders, while partnering across teams to ensure consistency of messaging across the enterprise. Aligning multiple stakeholders across businesses and the enterprise will require strong change management acumen.

In addition, this role will support executive visibility efforts for AIA leadership, including developing strategic messaging, presentations and communication materials for key internal and external engagements. This role will serve as a trusted communications partner to AIA leadership.

This position is a remote role, reporting to the Manager, Communications for the Ortho Tech Division. 

AI Accelerator Communications  

  • Leads development and execution of communications strategy for the AI Accelerator, including employee and business partner communications.
  • Establishes and manages AIA communication channels (e.g., newsletters, intranet/Connect page, leadership messaging, and engagement forums).
  • Defines communication cadence, content strategy, and audience segmentation to drive awareness and understanding of AIA’s capabilities and operating model.
  • Develops and executes launch communications to position AIA across the enterprise.
  • Creates compelling storytelling around AIA initiatives, projects, and success stories.

Communication Strategy

  • Develops and executes communication strategies that drive the strategic plan for the assigned business
  • Develops and refines communications best practices with businesses, including communications strategies, plans and related toolkits to drive greater consistency and effectiveness.
  • Partners on communication strategies to increase access to information for external and internal stakeholders, and promote and protect Stryker’s corporate reputation.

Change Management

  • Uses strategic planning to enable organizational change.
  • Aids development of communication strategies to enable divisional change.

Effective Communications

  • Communicates effectively with diverse audiences, using appropriate media and language.
  • Ensures important messages are clearly understood.

  • Prepares and delivers complex presentations to large or critical technical and business audiences.

Executive Visibility

  • Counsel senior leaders on high-impact opportunities to further business goals.
  • Develop messaging, presentations and communication materials to support AIA leadership for internal and external engagements.

Brand Advocacy and Communications Guidelines

  • Consults others on graphic design for a full range of business needs
  • Advocate for brand guideline implementation and participate in discussions to further our brand
  • Align and guide team members to follow company’s external communications guidelines and understanding and adherence to those guidelines, and provide feedback to further evolve.

Internal Communications

  • Establishes an internal communication mechanism within the organization.
  • Works with leadership to determine messaging strategy
  • Consults on the design and development of internal publications and reference materials.
  • Establishes policies and procedures for internal publications, events and announcements.
  • Generates case studies of effective and ineffective communication.
  • Promotes the organization's effectiveness of internal communication through major campaigns.
  • Develop, maintain and optimize internal channels and ensure connectivity to rest of the company.
  • Ensure communications are in alignment with the business and company’s strategies, goals, objectives and brand, and ensure review and approvals are in accordance with current processes and procedures.

Engagement Measurement

  • Develops effective mechanisms for reviewing measurements and assessing progress.
  • Creates a climate in which measurement of effectiveness and continuous improvement is a standard practice.
  • Coaches others on the theory and practice of metrics.

Copywriting and Editing

  • Writes and edits a full spectrum of business-related publications.
  • Leads in writing content such as speeches, press releases and other high-exposure documents
  • Advocates new methods for writing and editing processes, techniques and solutions.
  • Develops business plans to identify, recommend and set up writing operations.

  • Creates a climate that cultivates imagination, new ideas, and experimentation.

What you need

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 8+ years of work experience
  • Excellent presentation and interpersonal communications skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects while delivering on established timelines
  • Ability to be persuasive in the absence of organizational authority
  • Must be able to understand and work within complex interdivisional procedures and policies
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word & PowerPoint) 
  • Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in ambiguous, fast-paced environments

Preferred

  • 5+ years' experience in communications and/or marketing
  • Ability to manage multiple stakeholder groups 
  • Strong change management acumen 
  • Strong visual storytelling skills, including development of executive-level presentations

  • USN: $102,600 - $171,000 USD Annual
  • US5: $107,700 - $179,600 USD Annual
  • US10: $112,900 - $188,100 USD Annual
  • US15: $118,000 - $196,600 USD Annual
  • US20: $123,100 - $205,200 USD Annual
  • US30: $133,400 - $222,300 USD Annual
