SVP of Science and Innovation, Helm

Sarah Stamper is the SVP of Science and Innovation at Helm. Helm is a team of scientists, designers, engineers, and campaigners who are building a data and technology platform for organizers and issue advocates. We design and execute experiments to better understand human civic behavior, determine which interventions drive impact, and scale them toward a more participatory democracy. Sarah is an established scientist who specializes in experimentation and understanding complex social behavior. At Helm, Sarah oversees our Product, Data Science, Behavioral Science and Design teams. She brings more than a decade of research leadership from within academia and her work with nonprofit organizations. Prior to joining Helm, Sarah was the Associate Director of Research at Art & Science Group, where she led research engagements that included market research, national polling, user research, and behavioral science for educational institutions across the country. Sarah holds a PhD from Johns Hopkins University in Psychological and Brain Science and currently maintains a position there as a Visiting Scientist in Mechanical Engineering. Sarah also served in a leadership role for numerous STEM education initiatives including Brain Awareness Week, ROBOChallenge, STEM Achievement in Baltimore City Schools, and Women in Science and Engineering.
