From being the Founding Managing Editor of NowThis; the Executive Director of Digital for The Washington Post; the sixth hire and Head of News for The Huffington Post and now the CoFounder and President of PowerToFly, I’ve had my fair share of remote working experiences. As an individual contributor and manager, it was so important for me to track my productivity and allow my work to shine on it’s own when I wasn’t able to be visibly “seen” by my boss doing the work, and now as the founder of a totally remote company, I know exactly what to look for in successful remote hires so not to micromanage them and still get the best work.
Ask me anything in this hour-long virtual chat, and you’ll be sure to walk away with the following tips & tricks I’ve learned over the years:
How to escalate the medium, not the message
Tricks for managing your time so you can actually get stuff done and stay productive
Communication tips for any team or culture

I'm the Co-Founder and President of PowerToFly, the largest platform companies use to engage women in tech, digital, sales and marketing. I love working with Fortune 50 enterprises to fast-growing startups that are adapting to be more inclusive and diverse.
At PowerToFly, we've honed two distinct work streams to build diverse pipelines of underrepresented women in tech, sales, digital and marketing that are creating measurable results for talent acquisition leaders to show their C suites. From events that garner lead lists of mid to senior women in tech to media campaigns for sales roles, we're unlocking how to build truly diverse hiring pipelines.
Thanks to the methods we've pioneered at PowerToFly, I was also named as one of Fast Company's 100 Most Creative People in Business. I frequently write and contribute to The New York Times, Quartz, Business Insider, Fortune and Forbes on how companies can solve their diversity hiring challenges. I also blog frequently at https://blog.powertofly.com/.
Before I decided to cofound PowerToFly to tackle gender disparity, I was in media, where I started my career as the sixth employee of the Huffington Post. I left in November 2009 to take a role at The Washington Post as Executive Producer and Head of Digital News Products. I was also the Founding Managing Editor of NowThis, a video news platform now co-owned by Discovery Communications.
