Unfortunately, there’s no handbook to paving a career toward leadership for women in tech.
That’s why Yelp Engineering Managers Dorothy Jung, Soorya Krishna Pillai, and Nivedita Mittal will be joining us to share their own individual journeys to leadership in their careers. As members of Yelp’s AWE (Awesome Women in Engineering) ERG, Dorothy, Soorya, and Nivedita are passionate about supporting women in the tech industry.
Whether you’re looking to grow your career or are a leader who is interested in helping other women in the tech field, they want to equip other women professionals to take leadership responsibilities head on.

Meet The Speakers
Dorothy is an Engineering Manager for the Ad Engagement team at Yelp.
She has been with Yelp for seven years and was previously a software engineer on various teams within the Ads organization. She is currently the head of Awesome Women in Engineering (AWE) in Europe and was previously a lead of the Networking Vertical.
Prior to joining Yelp, Dorothy received her Bachelor’s in Computer Science and French from UC Berkeley.
Dorothy is based in London and enjoys traveling and doing yoga in her spare time.
Soorya is an Engineering Manager for the Analytics Infrastructure Team at Yelp.
She’s been with Yelp for four years. She led Awesome Women in Engineering’s (AWE) Reads program for three years and is now the Safe Spaces Vertical Lead.
Prior to Yelp, Soorya was an Assistant Professor for Computer Applications master’s program at the University of Mumbai.
Because of her background in academics, Soorya is passionate about continuous improvement for her and her team.
Nivi is an Engineering Manager on the Reader Experience team and was previously a full stack engineer on the same team.
She led Awesome Women in Engineering’s mentorship program for two years and is now the Career Development Vertical Lead.
Prior to joining Yelp, she received her Master’s in Computer Science from Northeastern University (Boston).
She has been at Yelp for 5 years and has recently moved to New York City where she spends her time exploring restaurants, cooking and meeting new people.
