In July of 2018 life was perfect as I knew it...everyone was healthy, going about our daily life, etc. On a picture perfect day in the Summer of 2018, while sitting on a boat with my sister, we talked about our future and retirement, little did I know that life would completely change about a month later.

My mammogram was scheduled August 1st, 2018, 1 year and 1 day exactly after my July 2017 exam. I had every excuse to postpone it being that the July 2017 mammogram came back normal, but I did NOT. The results from my August 2018 mammogram were normal besides a dense tissue and cyst in my left breast. Although I had to go back to get a sonogram, the callback was not concerning to me at all. After all, I have zero family history, I exercise 4 days per week, I JUICE, I breastfed my kids, I never smoked, I don’t drink alcohol. Every question on the medical questionnaire that might indicate something was a big ‘no’.

Then, my doctor confirmed my worst fears. In August of 2018 my life took a turn for the worst. On August 22nd, I received the call that I had breast cancer. This was not what I was expecting in the prime of my life, but I am here to share my survival story and share some key information about early detection.

I want you to walk away from this chat with:

  • An understanding that breast cancer doesn’t discriminate
  • Tips on what you should look out for
