Marva joins us to discuss her campaign, her decade plus tenure at the The Legal Aid Society, and why judges need to be representative of the diverse communities they represent.

Meet The Speakers
Marva Brown has worked as a Public Defender for almost 15 years. She began her career in 2006, at the Legal Aid Society of Nassau County in their District Court Bureau where she represented hundreds of clients charged with misdemeanors. In 2008, she moved to the Bronx Criminal Defense Practice of the Legal Aid Society. Since 2010, Marva has worked in the Brooklyn office where she has risen to the title of Senior Trial Attorney representing clients from arrest to trial on a range of matters from quality of life offenses to homicides. Marva holds a Juris Doctor from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts from Columbia University. Marva is active in her community where she is a member of Brooklyn Community Board 8 and serves on the Public Safety, Youth and Education, and Parks committees. She is the current President of the Friends of Brower Park. Marva resides in Crown Heights with her husband and their three children. She enjoys reading and traveling with her friends and family in her spare time.

She loves DIY projects and will never say no to french fries. She lives in Toledo, OH with her husband Aaron, an engineering technician, and their dogs, Radar & Cake.
