A close examination of wealth in the U.S. finds evidence of staggering racial disparities. At $171,000, the net worth of a typical white family was nearly ten times greater than that of a Black family ($17,150) in 2016. To break down the racial wealth gap, we welcome Prosperity Now's Ebony White, who provides tailored technical assistance and capacity building to nonprofits of color to increase their understanding of the racial wealth divide, build economic assets for their communities, and highlight best practices.

Meet The Speakers
Ebony White
Director, Racial Wealth Divide, Prosperity Now
Ebony provides tailored technical assistance and capacity building to nonprofits of color to increase their understanding of the racial wealth divide, build economic assets for their communities, and highlight best practices. She supports knowledgeable and intentional understanding, awareness, and the impact of programs and policy as it relates to the Racial Wealth Divide, as well as strengthening Prosperity Now's racial wealth divide analysis in its work. Additionally, she leads and writes the publications of local racial wealth divide profiles for communities lifting up racial economic inequalities. Lastly, White brings a unique perspective and lens drawn from her extensive experience in advancing race and culture through the Truth, Racial Healing and Transformation at Kellogg Foundation, as well as promoting diversity, equity and inclusion for greater understanding in communities and organizations.
Prior to joining Prosperity Now, she worked as a program manager for the W.K. Kellogg Foundation. In this role, she supported the national and place-based strategic programming functions at the foundation while acting as a key partner in the compilation, organization, utilization and communication of information and knowledge. She served as an internal and external thought partner with ongoing programming efforts and provided technical support to grantees and colleagues.
