I am an individual contributor on a very small team that is primarily white or white-passing. Leadership at my current company talks a lot about diversity and inclusion and wanting to do more or better to support BIPOC employees, but the messaging and action often stops with higher leadership. My larger team remains quiet and often does not show up for D&I initiatives and talks. What action steps can I (a Black woman) take to get people talking and participate in diversity initiatives? (this is oh so important for me because I need to see and hear my white employees doing the work. This would create a sense of belonging and psychological safety as a Black woman in tech to show up every day as myself and to do my best work).
