The Mechanical Products Team (MPT), Shipboard Effectors Department is seeking Mechanical Engineers for development and production support across multiple programs. These positions are in Louisville, KY (Hybrid) This Mechanical Engineering position performs in alignment to expectations in the design, development and production support areas associated with mechanical designs, validation principals, qualification processes, procurement, and production processes across a design life cycle. Development work may include requirements understanding, concept development, DFMAs, PFMAs, margin analysis, technical data package (TDP) development, application of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing principals, engineering test principals, preparation of technical analysis reports, and presenting in design reviews. Responsibilities to Anticipate: As a Mechanical Engineer in an individual contributor role, responsibilities will include technical execution of tasks, recommending solutions to a wide range of complex technical problems related to the design, manufacture, integration, and production sustainment of various mechanical sub-systems both in the engineering lab and the factory floor both at Raytheon and at suppliers. Post critical design activities include contributing to first article inspections, work instruction reviews, material dispositions, and root cause investigations to production issues. Decisions are data driven and require preparing technical justification analysis reports and presenting to a variety of Engineering Review Boards. Other responsibilities to anticipate include a commitment to program schedule and budget, and 3D parametric modeling. Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or similar Engineering discipline
- Two (2) years’ experience in mechanical design and design documentation
- The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
- Mechanical aptitude to provide solutions to a variety of technical problems of moderate scope and complexity.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite
- Advanced degree in Engineering discipline
- Proficient in 3D CAD tools (modeling and drawing)
- Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) per ANSI Y14.5
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; both verbal and written
- Ability to work in teams or independently, flexible, demonstrates initiative.
- Experience in mechanical sub-systems packaging, materials, thermal, structural analysis, energetics principals, control systems, interconnect, airframe, or large assembly development.
- Willingness to support tasks as experience allows relative to both design development and production support.
- Proficient in CREO (modeling and drawing) and Windchill (PDM)
- Ability to travel to government and other facilities in support of program activities.
- Active DoD issued security clearance.
- Background check and drug screen required (every external new hire in the U.S.)
- Drug Screen only performed on re-hires who have been gone for more than 1 year.
- Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.
- Hybrid: Employees who are working in Hybrid roles will work regularly both onsite and offsite. Ratio of time working onsite will be determined in partnership with your leader.
- Remote: Employees who are working in Remote roles will work primarily offsite (from home). An employee may be expected to travel to the site location as needed.
