The Global Data Engineering team within the Global Product and Technology organization has a wide range of responsibilities and play a critical role in shaping how Condé Nast enables its business using data. The team is responsible for building data pipelines, data products and tools that enable our Data Scientists, Analysts in various business units, Business Intelligence Engineers and Executives to solve challenging use cases in our industry.
We are seeking a Data Engineering Manager to join our Global Data Engineering to manage very talented and highly performing data engineers to support a range of initiatives across various technical and business areas within Condé Nast. RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Participate in, and execute, a Data Engineering roadmap with input from Product, Engineering and Data Science
Build cross-functional relationships with Product Managers, Data Scientists, Software Engineers, BI Engineers, Analysts to understand needs for consumer data for initiatives
Architect, build, test, scale and maintain highly reliable data pipelines from a variety of batch data sources and real-time streams (Internal, third party, etc.), to understanding customer journeys across the landscape of our business
Assist data science in building datasets for their ML Pipelines
Design and build data infrastructure for our Enterprise Data workstream
Ensure deliverables and timelines are communicated effectively to business stakeholders
Serve as a senior member of the data engineering team and be proficient in assisting the business with understanding data attributes
Be able to articulate technical requirements to engineers based on business requirements with guidance from Product Managers
Design and present recommendations to guide future business and research directions
Follow agile processes with a focus on delivering production-ready, testable deliverables in an iterable fashion.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
5+ years experience of near realtime or batch data pipeline development in a large scale organization
Experience scaling & leading a large scale engineering project from end-to-end and managing 1-2 data engineers
Experience in writing reusable/efficient code to automate analysis and data processes
Data Architecture experience
3+ years of business/marketing analytics experience, preferably in a consumer-based organization
Experience in processing structured and unstructured data into a form suitable for analysis and reporting with integration with a variety of data metric providers ranging from web analytics, consumer analytics, and advertising
Experience architecting/implementing scalable, distributed, and highly available systems using AWS services such Kinesis, DynamoDB, S3
Exceptional communication skills, particularly in communicating and visualizing quantitative findings in a compelling and actionable manner for business stakeholders
Ability to work independently, multitask, and drive your own projects
Proficiency in Python/PySpark, Scala or Java
Proficiency in SQL
Experience with Databricks/Spark, AWS ecosystem, Hadoop, Pig, Hive, Flink, or Beam.
Experience with orchestration tools such as Airflow
Comfortable with CI/CD Pipelines
Experience with Git version control, and other software adjacent tools
BS, MS, Ph.D., or equivalent industry experience in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or other related Science/Technology/Engineering/Math fields.
