The Director, Customer Strategy leads the interactions between Marketing and Sales in addition to key cross-functional partners to devise and lead the execution of innovative marketing initiatives that result in category leadership for the customer and NHSc U.S. This individual develops and implements industry-leading strategies with senior decision-makers at both the customer and company that drive business results, operational effectiveness and have direct impact into the P&L. This role provides significant input into, and delivers against, the development of business objectives and leads key business decisions with management board that are business critical and strategic in nature.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Accountable for the development and execution of strategic plans that distinguish between classes of trade and incorporate a profound understanding of marketplace dynamics.
- Serves as a member of the Franchise team, providing voice of customer to deliver business plans for multiple categories.
- Responsible to allocate the quota and trade funding across customer teams to enhance business results.
- Responsible to achieve pre-determined financial commitments to the company by leading the efforts of the strategy team to execute marketing strategies.
- Partners with key management members to maximize the trade fund investment and to oversee the development of strategic trade plans aligned with marketing objectives.
- Synthesizes customer strategies with brand and sales strategies to maximize results for both customer and company.
- Participates in special projects as assigned.
- Leads the talent and performance management of reporting staff, while identifying and developing top-potential individuals who can fill the succession planning needs of the company in the future.
- Complies with company policy and procedures at all times.
- Provides monthly, quarterly, and annual national shipment forecasts to the management board as well as provides a marketplace view at the national level to internal cross-functional partners to ensure that marketing and customer strategy is developed and executed, based on accurate insights and assumptions.
- Formulates and delivers business plans that enable the field to deliver the shipment and consumption targets.
- Leads team to provide active support to the customer sales team for assigned business(s). Provides input and validation for S&OP forecasting, impacting customer supply and service levels.
- Additional duties as assigned.
- There will be 25% or more travel time required.
EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum 10 years experience in consumer products environment experience required.
- 4 year degree in related field required.
- Experience in direct customer sales and/or marketing required.
- Minimum 4+ years people management experience required.
- Knowledge regarding Project Management, and experience with setting up and managing projects in a complex, fast-moving environment.
- Knowledge regarding relationship management, experience and mindset to work with partners in building initiatives that deliver on goals.
- Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.).
- High level of organizational skills, good written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
- Must be able to multi-task and follow-up when responses are needed.
PREFERRED SKILLS:
- Ability to select and enroll team members and delegate responsibilities to develop and execute company and customer business plans.
- Comprehensive knowledge of consumer products industry, category, brand strategies, competitive products, classes of trade, and the ability to apply this knowledge to solve complex problems successfully is required.
- Comprehensive knowledge of retail customer store operations, structure, strategy, and retail execution tactics is required.
- P&L management and strong financial acumen.
The approximate pay range for this position is $180,000 to $200,000. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to knowledge, skills and abilities as well as geographic location.
