Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems (NGAS) sector is currently seeking a
Avionics Department Manager (East) to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals in Melbourne, FL.
The Avionics Integration team is responsible for product development oversight and integration in the following areas: electronics design and fabrication, assembly and test, ground electronics, communications and mission payloads, antenna, lasers and sensors, and weapons payloads.
In this leadership role, you will be the department manager of functional homeroom operations and will be a key player in ensuring operational excellence within our avionics integration organization. As such, you will be responsible for bolstering our technical disciplines utilization and will act as a liaison between program and engineering leadership. The successful candidate will possess strong leadership skills, exhibit strategic thinking, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.

- Coordinating and ensuring communication and collaboration between various stakeholders
- Managing and maturing the training for Avionics Engineers (i.e., new technical leads, new managers, avionics basics)
- Developing and administrating the Avionics Awareness campaign
- Assist Technical Discipline (Antenna, Cockpit & Displays, Common Skills, Communications, Digital Transformation, Electro-Optical / Infrared, Electron Warfare, Environmental Qualifications, Ground Systems, Mission Computing, Networks, Radar, SIGINT, Supplier Mgmt, Weapons) leads with adoption of tools and knowledge sets developed
- Influence adherence to use of Principles & Operating Practices
- Assist in staffing for management and senior technical positions by creating requisitions, coordinating interviews, onboarding, and mentoring staff
- Support University Relations and Recruiting (UR&R) by assisting with placement of candidates and improving the candidate/intern/new hire experience
- Ensure adoption and support of National and Center level vision, strategies, and initiatives
- Aid in the redeployment of department personnel by identifying opportunities and conducting interviews with other managers and departments
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science (BS) in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline AND 9 years of related experience; OR a Master of Science (MS) in a STEM discipline and 7 years of related experience
- 5 years of management or leadership experience
- Active DoD Secret or higher clearance
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Top Secret and Special Access Program (SAP) clearances within a reasonable period, as determined by the company to meet its business needs
- Current Top-Secret clearance
- Degree in Electrical, Computer, Aerospace or Systems Engineering
- Demonstrated leadership skills and mentorship abilities including experience training and mentoring future leaders
- Experience interacting with and briefing senior executives
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders
- Knowledge and experience with current Major Acquisition Systems (MAS) programs across NGAS demonstrating a deep understanding of the industry standards and best practices
