The Pre-registration services including insurance verification, demographic verification, estimate creation and pre-payment collections. This position acts as a liaison on matters related to registration processes of the clinical operations. This position is responsible to ensure and monitor expectations and standards, pre-registration, electronic eligibility, and collections to support good revenue cycle practices. This position is responsible to oversee and direct those Pre-Registration service improvements as they relate to the Revenue Cycle Metrics. This position is full-time, Monday - Friday. Employees are required to work our normal business hours of 8:00am – 4:30pm in any time zone. It may be necessary, given the business need, to work occasional overtime. You will enjoy the flexibility to telecommute* from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. Primary Responsibilities:
- Communicates directly with patients and / or families on the phone to complete the registration process by collecting patient demographics, health information, and verifying insurance eligibility / benefits, collecting co-pays and co-insurance
- Utilizes computer systems to enter access or verify patient data in real - time ensuring accuracy and completeness of information
- Identifies outstanding balances from patient’s previous visits and attempts to collect any amount due
- Responds to patient and caregivers' inquiries related to routine and sensitive topics always in a compassionate and respectful manner
- Generates, reviews and analyzes patient data reports and follows up on issues and inconsistencies as necessary
- Maintains up-to-date knowledge of specific registration requirements for all areas, including but not limited to: Main Admitting, OP Registration, ED Registration, Maternity, and Rehabilitation units
- Refers patients to financial assistance and financial counseling

- High School Diploma / GED (or higher)
- 1+ years of customer service experience in a hospital or physician office setting
- 1+ years EMR experience
- 1+ years of healthcare collections experience
- Ability to work our normal business hours of 8:00am – 4:30pm in any time zone
- Experience with Microsoft Office products
- Experience in a Hospital Patient Registration Department, Physician office or any medical setting
- Working knowledge of medical terminology
- Understanding of insurance policies and procedures
- Experience in insurance reimbursement and financial verification
- Ability to perform basic mathematics for financial payments
- Experience in requesting and processing financial payments
- Required to have a dedicated work area established that is separated from other living areas and provides information privacy
- Ability to keep all company sensitive documents secure (if applicable)
- Must live in a location that can receive a UnitedHealth Group approved high-speed internet connection or leverage an existing high-speed internet service
- Strong interpersonal, communication and customer service skills
