Overall, the role of an Affordability Pharmacy Coordinator involves supporting patients in accessing affordable medications while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and providing high-quality pharmaceutical care within a care delivery organization.
Hours: 8 hour shifts between 8:00am to 5:00pm Monday-Friday in MST

Primary Responsibilities:
- Medication Cost Support: Provide medication cost support, including discussion of lower-cost alternatives, generic options, or therapeutic substitutions to help members manage medication expenses
- Billing and Reimbursement: Investigate member or provider medication billing and cost inquiries
- Prescription Refill Coordination: Coordinate prescription refill requests, including contacting members for refill reminders and coordinating with healthcare providers and pharmacies to ensure timely refills
- Medication Adherence Counseling and Support: Provide education to members on the importance of medication adherence and implement adherence interventions to address identified barriers to medication adherence
- Collaboration with Healthcare Team: Collaborate with pharmacists, physicians, nurses, and other members of the healthcare team to ensure seamless coordination of care and medication management
- Compliance and Regulatory Requirements: Adhere to organizational policies related to affordability programs, patient confidentiality, and medication safety
- Continuous Improvement: Participate in quality improvement initiatives and process optimization efforts to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of affordability programs

Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma/GED (or higher)
- Active and Unrestricted Pharmacy Technician License
- 3+ years of Pharmacy-related experience
- Intermediate level of proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced Education (i.e. Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree)
- CPhT certification
- Experience in managed care pharmacy (Pharmacy Benefits Manager, Medicare Advantage)
- Experience using EMR systems
- Knowledge of Medicare part D
- Ability to recognize potential drug discrepancies and barriers to adherence
- Ability to identify and analyze drug data trends
- Knowledge of HIPAA
- Demonstrate accuracy, timeliness, organization and attention to detail
- Bilingual in Spanish and English

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
