As the Optum Care National Risk Adjustment Healthcare Economics Team, we support all risk adjustment efforts across our enterprise, primarily focused on Medicare Advantage Risk Modeling. We are internal analytics partners who provide expertise to our finance, operations, accounting, and clinical leads to identify coding gaps, assess opportunity, forecast, and analyze risk. As an Associate Director, you will help manage key process and model enhancements around Medicare Advantage Risk Adjustment, coding accuracy insights and clinical health outcomes.
The role also requires the knowledge and ability to access data, construct and manipulate large datasets to support planned analyses using SQL on a SQL server and in Snowflake. A successful Associate Director will also be able to communicate findings to leaders and stakeholders who may not have a data focus.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Multitask, prioritize efficiently, adapt to change, work well under pressure, navigate a dynamic environment, meet deadlines, and manage projects from start to finish
- Develop full understanding of CMS guidelines and specifications related to Medicare Advantage and Risk Adjustment as well as our team’s key data tables and processes
- Lead projects to develop new Risk Adjustment models or enhancements to existing models
- Design data controls, perform detailed quality assurance and lead efforts to resolve data issues
- Lead projects from start to finish which may include migration of processes into Snowflake, design new Risk Adjustment related metrics, producing recurring or ad hoc datasets analyses or reports to meet customer requirements. For recurring work, designing efficient processes and automation is key
- Serve as a key healthcare economics and analytics contact for Optum Care's leadership hierarchies
- Write documentation for important reports and processes
- Effectively communicate results, integrate feedback, and continually refine analytics

Required Qualifications:
- 5+ years of analytics experience
- Proven solid analytical expertise: data visualization, data analysis, data manipulation, data extraction and reporting
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency with SQL
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in predictive modeling, data manipulation, reporting, and analysis
- Experience with Snowflake
- Industry experience
- Knowledge of CMS regulations and specifications in regard to Medicare Advantage risk adjustment
- Knowledge of healthcare administrative data (medical claims, enrollment, provider data)
- Demonstrated capability in driving business result through modeling and segmentation implementation, analysis, and refinement
- Proficiency with advanced forecasting techniques

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
