As our quest to democratise financial services continues at blazing speed, Zettles Run your Business Area is now on the lookout for an inspiring Backend Engineer. In this role, you will co-tackle a wide range of technical challenges together with a group of passionate groundbreakers driven by the shared ambition to develop hassle-free solutions improving small businesses everyday life.

Part of our PoS Alliance, the Cash Register Team has for primary goal to grow our sellers with an intuitive and compliant PoS. In simple terms, the Team makes the magic happen by providing functionalities ensuring that merchants from all over the World can use Zettle's services and meet local regulations at all times.
Besides implementing high quality code and reusable components to create a tailored user experience, your contribution will notably include designing, implementing, debugging, and maintaining services with a high degree of autonomy. More specifically, it also means taking part in system design and collaborate with other peers for code reviews, bouncing ideas and mob-programming.
Today we work with Java 15, Kotlin, Dropwizard, Wildfly, Cassandra, PostgreSQL, GraphQL Docker, Terraform, and everything is hosted on Amazon Web Services.

The skills you need to succeed
Broadly speaking, the tech stack of our Cash Register Team comprises several layers such as Mobile (iOS and Android), Web, or Backend, and no need to say that we all work together to develop robust and evolutive solutions. With that in mind, we think that the following skills and know-how would greatly help you to be successful in this role:
- A proven experience in Backend Development with Java 8+ and both traditional SQL and NoSQL Databases (ideally Cassandra)
- An expertise in designing and maintaining Libraries/APIs for external users
- Proven skills in building stable, performant and maintainable code.
- Security / Authorisation
Earn bonus points if...
Apart from the above, you have experience with:
- JSON + REST/Web based API's in Java
Familiar with Kotlin
Experienced of working with microservices architecture
The nice to haveA general interest in compliance as a domain.
