The Role: Senior Economist I
The Team: ECR’s Model and Scenarios Team is responsible for the development and maintenance of a suite of models that underpin our economic forecasts. The team is also responsible for the creation and productizing of scenario analysis across the ECR organization. The team is looking to develop new analytical tools to drive new growth via scenarios and collaborations across S&P.
The Impact: ECR helps our clients make better decisions by providing data, intelligence, and insights into their markets and context. Our team helps provide the analytic frameworks for those insights through economic models, and use those models to develop alternative scenarios that help our clients understand and quantify the risks they face.
What’s in it for you: You will join our team and help with the model operations, learning how economic forecasting models work, and how they get put into production. You will have opportunities to develop scenarios, to support model-driven consulting projects, to develop new tools, and to work closely with country analysts, subject matter experts, and clients.
Responsibilities:
Support the operations of ECR’s models and work with them as needed
Run, under supervision, basic ad-hoc econometric models
Develop scenario analysis using existing models and/or new ad-hoc models
Draft reports and technical white papers for consulting purposes, scenario development and documentation
Build programs to automate model maintenance and run quality checks
What We’re Looking For:
One to two years of relevant job experience, including applied econometrics work and presentation experience
Economics/Econometrics/Financial Econometrics. Master’s degree would be a plus.
Well-developed coding in either Python, R, or EViews
Understanding and familiarity with econometric estimation methodologies and inference approaches, including basic probability theory
Familiarity with macroeconomic theory and applied methodologies
Prior experience with visualization tools such as Tableau, Microsoft Power BI and/or VBA coding is a plus.
Excellent writing skills in English
Good knowledge of Powerpoint and visualization tools to design attractive presentations and programmable tools for client presentations
