As a Client Account Specialist at CARE, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and efficient financial operations of our outpatient clinic. Your primary responsibility will be to manage client accounts, process insurance claims, and facilitate accurate and timely billing. This role requires a strong understanding of medical billing and coding, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to provide exceptional customer service to patients and insurance providers. This position reports directly to the Director of Billing and interacts on a regular basis with other members of an interdisciplinary team. This position works cooperatively with all CARE Counseling staff. This role can be work onsite (Bloomington, MN) full time or hybrid (3 days onsite/2 days at home). Primary Responsibilities:
- Prepare and submit insurance claims accurately and in a timely manner
- Review and verify the accuracy of patient billing data, including diagnoses and procedure codes
- Monitor and follow up on unpaid claims, denials, and appeals
- Manage patient accounts, including posting charges, payments, and adjustments
- Provide clear and concise explanations of billing inquiries to patients and their families
- Assist patients with understanding their insurance benefits and financial responsibilities
- Verify patient insurance coverage and eligibility prior to appointments
- Coordinate with insurance providers to resolve coverage issues and discrepancies
- Coding Compliance:
- Ensure that all billing and coding practices comply with current healthcare regulations and guidelines
- Stay up-to-date on changes in coding and billing regulations
- Identify opportunities to improve revenue cycle processes and reduce billing errors
- Collaborate with the billing manager to implement process enhancements
- Record Keeping and Documentation:
- Maintain accurate and organized records of patient accounts, billing transactions, and correspondence
- Prepare and maintain reports related to billing and accounts receivable
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1+ year of experience in outpatient clinic billing and/or medical billing
- Proficiency in medical billing software and Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems
- Solid knowledge of medical terminology, CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10 coding
- Knowledge of healthcare compliance and HIPAA regulations
- Must be available to work onsite full time (Bloomington, MN location) or hybrid (3 days onsite/2 days from home)
