Our team solves tough, meaningful problems that create a safer, more secure world. Job Summary: Raytheon is seeking a Senior Systems Engineering Section Leader (SL) in El Segundo, California. The activities of the SL include: Engaging with Program Managers, Chief Engineers, and Lead Systems Engineers, to ensure systems engineering discipline, and promoting successful program execution; leading requirements development related to the operations concept, architecture, design, development, integration, validation, performance assessment, and flight test; frequent collaboration with multiple functions (software, hardware, systems) and the program office; monitoring engineering performance; and technical presentations with internal and external customers. The SL is a key technical contributor to the program supported by the section and performs direct line management activities for approximately 10-20 engineers. These SL activities include career development, resource allocation, championing systems engineering best practices, and actively engaging with programs to facilitate proposals. The SL ensures two-way communications for section members; serves as a day-to-day liaison to the programs, and oversees member job assignments, performance, and recognition. This position is an onsite role. Responsibilities to Anticipate:
- You will champion the technical development, training, mentoring, performance management, career development and opportunities, and resource allocation of your section members.
- You will ensure two-way communications for section members and serve as a day-to-day liaison to the programs concerning ensuring program success along technical, cost and schedule parameters, as well as section member job assignments, performance, and recognition.
- You will coordinate program staffing needs and reductions, optimizing resource utilization and interviewing applicants.
- You will team with the Department Leader in the execution of Raytheon Engineering goals and will be expected to actively participate in Department level meetings.
- You will lead and/or support the development of Basis of Estimate’s (BOEs) for proposals.
- You will develop and maintain technical roadmaps for their capabilities and for technical leadership of the section.
- Selected candidate will be required to obtain and maintain special access program (SAP) clearance and/or an SCI clearance.
- Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and ten (10) years of relevant professional experience.
- Domain experience in radar systems and/or RF architectures
- Experience in one or more of the following as it pertains to RF/Radar systems: Architecture development; Radar Mode Development; Signal Processing (AMTI); Tracking; Resource Management; Software architecture; Data analysis
- Experience in systems engineering across the lifecycle, with multiple phases of product development.
- Experience with EVMS & related tools for managing program cost and schedule.
- Active and transferable U.S. government issued Secret security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
- Experience leading an IPT or cross-functional team in program execution.
- Experience supporting proposal development, particularly Basis of Estimate (BOE) development.
- Experience with MBSE languages and tools including SysML, UML, Cameo, and/or Rhapsody.
- Experience with financial management, such as a past role as an Integrated Product Team (IPT) lead or Cost Account Manager (CAM). Current certification in Earned Value Management (EVM).
- Experience supporting a software development or maintenance program using Agile or Scrum methodologies.
- Work experience with one of the following areas related to radar systems: Signal Processing, search or track, surveillance, reconnaissance, synthetic aperture radar mapping, electronic protection, ID, or adaptive techniques.
- Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.
- Hybrid: Employees who are working in Hybrid roles will work regularly both onsite and offsite. Ratio of time working onsite will be determined in partnership with your leader.
- Remote: Employees who are working in Remote roles will work primarily offsite (from home). An employee may be expected to travel to the site location as needed.
